If this is the final PTR build, wouldn’t it be marked a release candidate like the last times? Or did we get another build later on after they announced the release date? No idea how it was with 9.1 and 9.1.5.

Here, have the incredibly incorrect and incomplete texture of the physical planet, which is actually mostly visible in the skybox if you wait long enough.

Oh, Quel'thalas, Gilneas and Twilight Highlands are missing. Guess they don't exist canonically. Dang. (Fun fact, I made that image during 7.3 PTR because I was frustrated with the inaccuracies and there was an entire thread on it in this forum as well with pretty much an identical discussion as this one.)

Kul Tiras and Zandalar are also missing as all those clouds aren't large enough to obscure any of them... but 8.0 beta was right around the corner? Weird. They must have known, right?

I understand why Quel'Danas is missing since it exists on Outland map and not in EK, but what I don't get why is Twilight Highlands missing in there? How do they copypaste the map with only some Cataclysm changes? None of the Cata zones exists in completely different zonewide phased maps either like Sargeras's sword or updated Arahti or Darkshore.

So we all know the maps and globes can't be trusted because they always get replaced when a new landmass is added (or one that already existed in lore is changed in some way), and because Blizz themselves have said it. I like that they left the entire back of that globe empty instead of squeezing Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms a bit closer together though. It is still silly that the southern points of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms and all of Pandaria are at the bottom of the globe though because a bunch of hot deserts and jungles and then WoW-China being the south pole is just weird. How many expacs before we end up with a Southrend?

Yea. Given the climates on the south tips of EK, Kalimdor and Pandaria it would make more sense that the bottom end of the current map is near the equator, not south pole.

Okay just because we seem to be getting some form of announcement today, here's my final prediction along with my reasoning:

- 9.2 release date is announced today, happens in two weeks. We almost feel overdue for this, so I doubt they can wait for much longer whatever happens.
- Overwatch 2 Beta announced on Thursday (tomorrow) and begins in a couple of weeks.
- Hearthstone expansion announcement in late February, and Overwatch 2 Beta begins.
- Warcraft "What's Next?" event announced in early March, takes place mid-March and features WoW 10.0, a glimpse of 9.2.5 to keep us busy, and WotLK Classic. A big twist is that it will also feature the new Warcraft mobile game, stealthily announced alongside the expansion to ensure minimal negative feedback in social media.
- 9.2.5 released in May-June and features a bunch of nice QOL features including cross-faction play.
- 10.0 released in the autumn of 2022.

Why would you have 9.2 release date and Overwatch 2 beta just one day apart? They spread out the announcements in the last week(s), I don't see why they need to rush this.

Well, the 9.2 announcement is pretty much is guaranteed for today because it's February 9th and Mike Ybarra teased something for today involving the numbers 9 and 2.

For the Overwatch 2 Beta, there's been a dev build uploaded to Battle.net in preparation for Beta presumably, and they are meant to play OW2 during the OW League in April. So there's an urgency there to get it out to the public for testing ASAP.

Ah, I missed Ybarra's tweet. That might be enough of an indicator for 9.2, lol.

10.0 xpac launch early Feb 2023.
Overwatch 2 May 23, 2023. 7 years after Overwatch.
Diablo 4 May 14 2024. 12 years after Diablo 3.

I mean Sepulcher of the first ones looks like cool raid, all kind of great bosses. Good roster.
Maybe gameplay will be ok.

What do you think about the story after my thoughts ?

Star Wars has fantasy mixed in but we haven't seen much of it (lightsabers are upgraded versions of 'magical' swords that still exist in the SW lore). Scifi is still a part of WoW, the way they designed Outlands shows, it has references to Krull. I think WoW is more comparable to Warhammer than it is to Lord of the Rings or Elder Scrolls.

First Ones are something they shoved in after using up the Titans. They've gone too cosmic, adding another layer to power of creation because they've run out of lore.
