Pre-emptive and reactive sanctions are different things. That I can tell the difference is not "naivetee".

Oh wait, you live in a country where they give their leader authoritarian powers. Leading them to confiscate people's trucks and bank accounts because of charges of counseling to commit mischief. In America, you can be a black supremacist, shoot at a Jewish mayoral candidate and get bailed out of jail by BLM for 100k. In Canada if you start a PEACEFUL protest, you get thrown in jail without bail.
The convoy occupation was not a "peaceful protest".
Our Prime Minister has no "authoritarian powers".
Confiscation of property used in the commission of treason (or other crimes) is perfectly reasonable.
If bail was offered to someone charged with a crime, and they pay it, that's how that's supposed to work. If you're arguing that person should not have been bailed out, take that up with the court system, not those who funded their bail payment.

You're pushing absolute fucking nonsense. Nothing you're saying is true. You're supporting Nazis and other extremists, and pushing disinformation horseshit to muddy the waters.

Saw a clip on youtube of Cucker Carlson saying all of this almost word for word. Might have been a lincoln project video, forget which tbh. Guess we know he loves the Cucker.

Speaking as someone who lives just outside fuckin' Ottawa, and is speaking from personal experience, anyone thinking these Nazi fucks were "peaceful protesters" is either lying, or so gullible they'll fall for whatever bullshit their cult leader of choice tells them.

They were waving Nazi flags. They tried to burn down an apartment building and seal everyone inside. They were using psychological warfare tactics. They were repeatedly detonating explosive devices outside people's apartments. They demanded the overthrow of the government and that they should get to pick the new government. They were terrorists, and they were committing treason.

    https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/...ection-46.html

    Treason
    (2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada,
    (a) uses force or violence for the purpose of overthrowing the government of Canada or a province;

Clearly covers the actions of these "protesters".

You'll excuse me if I don't have a lot of patience for foreign extremists encouraging violent treason against my nation's democratically-elected government.

Russia hadn't invaded yet so the sanctions weren't called for. Why aren't they bringing the legislation back and seeking quick bipartisan passage?

You act like the Republican party is incapable of governance, unintentionally. Which, amusingly, is largely correct.

In new redistricting news, Democrats gained more ground this week.

A North Carolina court rejected the GoP-favored plan in favor of one by a nonpartisan committee, leading to -1 R seat and +1 D seat.

Also, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court decided to accept the map proposed by Democrats, which resulted in -1 R seat.

For the record, I believe there were other factors. The completion of Nord Stream. Germany still sorting out their coalition government. France being busy with their presidential election. Britain being busy with Downing Street parties. The US being buys tearing itself apart. All these would delay reactions from those governments until it is too late.

I think Putin is going senile you don't have to be political genius to figure the perfect time would have been under Trump during the transition of power when the US was a shit show especially after the insurrection. Trump would have bent over backwards to defend him as he is now and have the power to stall or slow NATO.

This seems solid to me. Also, I can't help but wonder, those people yelling "Why didn't Biden put sanctions on Russia before like a bigly yuge leader?" don't seem to be mentioning Trump actually tried to remove some.

Alright posting in here than Russian/Ukraine thread. I guess my problem is with just the sanction part is by time they maybe take effect or at least hurt Putin, he may have gobbled up ALL of Ukraine. A long time ago I was always with punishing the Oligarchs but now and even back then they seem somewhat worthless with all the work arounds they can manipulate.

So as a person who hates military intervention, for this? Ughh, idk atm but Putin is flexing and atm the West seems to be backtracking.

Oh I am saying this cause I just watched Psaki at the moment saying Biden will not use US military force. Again, atm I'm with this. If in the end this is the way Putin gets to negotiate his way by saying he will give back 75% Ukraine for his 25% he wanted seems as a win for Putin.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!

Not really. He'll get the relatively (more so) wartorn bits of Ukraine, while NATO will rush to expand its ranks with not just Ukraine, but likely Finland and Sweden as well.

Doesn't really seem worth it for him.

That’s ultimately the same appeasement shit they tried with Hitler. It didn’t work.

“We’re just happy with X percentage of Ukraine, we totes won’t invade anymore“ has the same ring as “we’re just happy invading Poland, we totes won’t invade anymore”

Why do Democrats want you to hate Putin? Has Putin shipped every middle class job in your town to Russia? Did he manufacture a worldwide pandemic that wrecked your business? Is he teaching your kids to embrace racial discrimination? Is he making fentanyl? Does he eat dogs?

Tucker's official twitter. Vid in link.

The Holy Mother of racist Whataboutism. The whatabout of Russia didn't take your job so why so mad throw in a little racism of eating dogs and round about way of fentanyl problem was hyper started by US pharma.

Like, masks are straight off. Tucker and like 90% of the GOP (reps and base) would gleefully put on swastika armbands if someone told them they were gonna get to kill a bunch of socialists and minorities.

Which, y'know, is what the Nazis promised on their rise to power.

They've tried to hide it, but they've always been the model the Nazis used. In fact; people get this backwards. It isn't that Republicans have become Nazis. It's that the Nazis used conservative-led US race laws like Jim Crow as the basis for developing their own race laws, against Jews and so on. America was literally the template upon which the Nazis built. It's just rising back to the surface now.

I mean, the far right can't really afford to lose the urgency of their narrative. They're desperate to remain relevant.

"Look at me! Look at me! I'm still relevant!"

That's all I hear from that.

No, Trump did that just fine on his own. Funny that Carlson would bring that up.

Biden to put up fence again for State of the Union.

When asked why, he said "Because I'm not a slow learner."
