For the right price, eliminate the most notorious gangers and mutants. Your armory is a sprawling arsenal. Your body is enhanced with a dozen customizable augments to run on walls and leap over chasms. Your cyber-mastiff will sniff out and kill enemies for you, while your grappling hook allows quick, agile traversal of the massive environments.

    - Upgrade and fight alongside your loyal cyber-mastiff
    - Endless weapon and augment customisation
    - Upgrade, advance, and level up as you collect bounties
Looks like it could be good, looks like there will be full character customization as well judging by their site (or just a number of presets). Never played Deathwing their previous game, looked nice but seemed like the general consensus was gameplay was pretty meh. Getting some doom vibes from this though.

Looks potentially good, but holy shit is it damned hard trying to keep up with the million licensed WH40k games.

Very much didn't like Deathwing, it felt way too pointlessly challenging and punishing without much in the way of reward. If this is more in the vein of Space Marine, I'll be here for it.

But it's a Focus Home Interactive game, so as gorgeous as the visuals may look I'll have to keep expectations in check. The games they publish generally seem to skew more towards trying to make AAA games on a AA budget and those financial limitations appear pretty often.

I was mixed then heard it was from Focus Home and the expectations skewed towards the lower side, well will see, GW does seem to have taken a small amount more notice in its gaming 'wing' but still not any where near quality controlled as it should nor having a AAA title it deserves. Not counting Total War Warhammer which is its own thing (which i love but hey ho)

Yeah, GW is horrible with their IP protection. They just seem to license it out to anyone offering them enough of a minimum guarantee and call it a day. I hate it, because it makes me roll my eyes each time a new one is announced, especially if it's not from a big studio/publisher. They'd benefit from limiting just how many WH40K games come out every year, because oversaturation of an IP is totes a thing.

But they have some great wins, Total Warhammer is great and there have been some bright spots with Space Marine and some other titles (I loved the first Dawn of War). Still kinda made the multiplayer shooter Behavior made a while back never really found success, it had a bunch of potential and was kinda fun, just never quite settled in and became a "good" game while there were still enough folks playing.

Space marine was decent but needed a little work, but was decent, I loved dawn of war 1 and I played it on mulitplayer also and I rarely do with rts games, I liked dawn of war 2 single player, only, though the last man standing had a few goes, dawn of war 3 is the starship troopers 2 of the dawn of war series... blerg! Not gonna beat that long dead horse, going forward the setting has so much to offer but it keeps getting lets be honest, shit, from indie games companies, at this point I wouldn't know a good 40k game if it bolterd me in the face with the offerings over this past decade.

Going by the bullet points of Hired Gun it seems pretty bland and I guess they are pinning the aesthitic of the grim dark to carry it.

Gameplay looked satisfying. The grappling hook thing may not be new but it's always a fun addition to these kinds of games that allows for a lot of silliness. I feel like WH games are often carried as much, if not more, by the IP than the gameplay, honestly. But if the game is decent, I'm here for it and the 40K aesthetic is just a bonus.

Disappointed it isn't 3rd person, the 40k universe cries out for transitioning between shooting and melee and 1st person close-combat always seems clunky to me.

As an aside, if you get hold of the March issue of White Dwarf (462) it comes with a Steam code to unlock all these games,
    - Warhammer: Vermintide II
    - Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
    - Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
    - Total War: Warhammer
    - Warhammer Quest
    - Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times
    - Warhammer Underworlds Online
    - Talisman: Digital Edition
    - Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus
    - Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach
    - Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon – Da Orks
    - Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf

Damn that came out of nowhere, looks like doom 40k in a way with gameplay so very nice.

    Also love the cyberdog
Do you hear the voices too?

Space Marine actually made you feel the weight of wearing power armor and being a walking tank.
The sound of doing a dodge roll makes you want to check if there isn't a dent in the metal floor behind you.
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Space Marine is far and away the best representation of 40k in video game form. The only possible issue is the story being a little vanilla for people who are already familiar with the material.

indeed, quite a shame that GW isn't as 'proactive' in keeping the quality of it's IP as diligently in games is it is doing in the tabletop games (with alle the 3rd party manufacturers that it sues), maybe they would've been able to keep space marine as a games series going instead of whoring out their IP's, with all the mediocre/bad games now. Going to wait and see if this also doesn't turn to shit, already not that big of a fan if the guy in the intro is the player character.

It's really a shame that Space Marine didn't get a sequel, I remember reading an article where the dev spoke about where the story was going next and it seemed interesting at the time I read it.

Looking at the website for the game and you scroll down to a section that says something like "Craft your bounty hunter" While it doesn't mention anything about changing your basic physical attributes like gender skincolor face shape whatever a collage of different looking people is played out in the background of the text which seems to me be hinting there is at-least some basic amount of character customization and won't have a set main character or it would be more like ME sheperd.

I'm a Games Workshop mark. Of course, I'm gonna buy this alongside the 900+ other cheaply license Games Workshop video game products. They didn't even have to release a trailer.

I'm a longtime Necromunda player so this interests me even if i'm reigning my expectations in given the recent output by the devs.

But man the folks who dont know much about warhammer are going to be really upset at the lack of orks or space marines unless a single imperial fist shows up to ruin some gangs day for reasons.

    Warhammer 40K: Wolfenstein.

Please tell me that's the case. I haven't played a story heavy FPS game in years.
Though by the looks of it, it's Warhammer 40K: Doom, meaning the story will be equivalent to that of a porn movie.

that sounds great, happy to se we're not stuck with a pet or something, don't like that in a shooter.

The pet seems to be an integral part of the game and I would guess you can't play without it. Not sure how much it impacts combat in terms of having to 'control' it but you can apparently upgrade it like you upgrade yourself and weapons.

Ooh can you elaborate? I found the ending odd as I am a Black Templar player.
