So, what do you think of the loot change in Shadowlands regarding m+?

As you are aware, now we get one drop less per dungeon in m+. So in-time it's 2 items, not in time it's just 1 item. I have to be honest here, I think this change hurts my overall fun of the game the most. On average only 4 out of 10 runs you will get one item, that's not even every 2nd time you go in. And that's if you finish the dungeon in time. I have gone without an item on my main for 5 runs, something I can't really recall back in BFA. I get that they "need" to reduce the drops because there is less RNG with the removal of the TF/WF mechanic. But the game (m+) just feels less fun/rewarding to do. I always thought 3 items per run was pretty much perfect. What do you guys think?

My primarily source of loot will be m+, and the way it is now I am encouraged to just do one M+ and wait for the weekly lockout and get my vault item. The ilvl of normal m+ is lower to begin with and so I feel like I have little incentive to spam m+. Is this the intention? If yes then my journey in SL will be short lived because the main reason I am even still playing WoW are Dungeons.

I killed all the bosses in the raid on normal and only got 1 necklace... feels so rewarding.. love these nerfs..

I think generally the loot reduction is ok, but it hurts lower m+ too much. At +15 we will get 3 items again, but to get there we'll need the loot from lower dungeons and that takes too long if you don't have friends to make armor stack groups. It hurts the wrong people.

They also reduced loot drops in raiding too? Wow, and here I was thinking to maybe try raiding again to satisfy my loot hunt. That's a bummer, maybe I should skip SL after all, I like pretty much EVERYTHING in SL, covenants, torghast and legendary crafting/collecting. But the loot reduction makes it sooo unrewarding to play.

The old system was a lot of loot endorphins week one and then mostly sharding non titanforged items and having a weekly chest of disappointment experience.

Now week one is a bit of a slow burn, but looting a purple is more fun most of the time and I know that my first 10 runs are actually helping me with the loot that counts.

So for me it's 10/10 please never go back.

M+ obviously got fucked by this change but M+ was (in my opinion) implemented under the assumption they would never have to get rid off Titanforging or a similiar system.

I'd have to look it up, but i remember that Blizzard has, up until ~Spring 2020, consistently shot down the idea of ever going back to "regular loot".

i think the biggest issue with this is that it makes sub optimal specs ever less likely to get invited to a group since there is bascially no reason to do a run you wont finish in time.

I feel like that the chest of disappointment would have been fixed by the vault mechanic. Two steps ahead, one step back if you get what I mean.

We just needed more control over TF/WF, it was just too random. A weekly "TF" item where we can choose to "upgrade" an item would have been a good solution, you would still need to play many weeks while at the same time keep items abundant to not feel unrewarding to do content. In the end it's about making people play longer, now we play longer but it's less fun. (from my POV)

I have done soooo many dungeons (more than 20 dungeons 5+) and I maybe got 3-4 items?
    I feel terribly burned out.
I wish this would change to 3 items at the end of the dungeon. It's way too high time investment for only 3-4 items :/

Could use some more loot if you don’t get an item. 35 anima doesn’t feel right for a failed 15

I foresee a future where I do my weekly renown quests, one m+, then log off for the week. More grind for less gear is not how I'll be spending my free time.

I sort of agree that the time investment / reward feels off if you do it that way. What you would need to do is find keys you can +2 on for sure to optimize your loot chances here, get better gear , move up 2 levels , repeat. It’s like Diablo 3 where it’s best to play content you roflstomp to optimize chances on loot

This doesn’t really feel well and I think after the initial rush people will either do just one or max four mythics a week and be done with it

This is very true. My loot per playtime feels fine to me, but everything else seems to move at a glacial pace

It's basically made me lose all interest in m+ right now personally. Like the odds of getting an item is low, the odds of it being something you need/want is even lower. You could easily run 10+ dungeons and get nothing of value.

Sure, I could spend 5 hours in m+ doing 10 dungeon runs in the hopes of getting a single item, or I could just... Not do that. And do literally anything else.

I think my plan is to just let my friends clear +15s for a couple weeks to gear up and then carry me through and funnel me loot so it's faster. Doing anything else just feels like a massive waste of time and energy with how low the drop rates are.

I get that the change was made because of titanforging being removed, but it is still too strict. The loot I will get in a M+2 will still be replaced by the loot I get in a M+3. The only thing that changes is now my chances at getting an item in both the +2 or +3 have been lowered tremendously and I do not like that.

So, the infinitely spammable M+ no longer showers you with epics for failing the timer and gives loot at a rate much closer to raiding (with it's weekly lockout) and people are complaining?

I was told most people do M+ for the experience and fun and not the easy loot. Guess they've been shown up for what they are.

It goed both ways, let’s say you raid on a 6 hour schedule a week clearing you will most likely get at least two loots and each week an increasing chance to get more through guildies who trade you.

Now go pug 6 high level keys and the chances are very real you will end up with 0 loot or 1 at most and no guarantee it will improve next reset through trades

    I like the change.

Clearing the raid and getting 1 item is fine.
Doing 5 Mythic+ and getting 1 item is fine.
