It's also about what you get in return? Would you pay 50$ for a piece of shit because someone worked 100000000 hours and spent 999999999$ to make it?
As if it will be a PoS. You won't know until it's released and frankly until you experienced it. Sure you can get get a second hand opinion firm a streamer/reviewer but it's not really the same as experiencing your self.

Whether 1 person made it and it cost them $100 dollars of their resources or hundreds made it at a cost of hundreds of millions, a game can be priced where ever a company thunksnit will sell. $40 is 33% discount from normally priced games. The average person completing all 5 acts on normal alone will get $8/hr of value(about 1hr per act). Less than $3/hr if they do all 3 difficulties. But who are we kidding, I'll bet most who buy this will get hundreds of hours or playtime.

As for WC3, the game was solid but missing features that were either added or are being added. Sure the removal/merger of the old game was shit, but the game itself looks good and plays fine. The SP alone was worth the price IMO. If I cared about RTS these days I may have bought it.

I decided to have a go of median xl since I never really bothered to play modded d2, after a few days of progressing a necro I don't think I could play regular diablo 2 again. same with torchlight 2 and the synergies mod. the remaster looks great though. probably just keep median for my arpg fix. PoE is great but I can never get into it, I still have a templar from like the early days and the game just never grabbed me like torchlight 2 or diablo 2 did. i'm having a lot of fun with median though its a fantastic mod. much more enjoyable endgame grind.

whats the profit margin for remastering a game?

  4. #384
This game? Prob a lot. 20 years later and it still has a big audience. Diablo 1? not near as much other then for the sake of doing it. I wouldnt mind an update for xbox or ps even with its poor graphics.

I still remember the first game i bought with my own money, saved up after shit tons of chores when i was like 12.

Warlords 2 for PC. Was like the equivalent to 40-50€~. Or begging my mom to buy me Mortal Kombat for the Mega Drive, that one was a lot more expensive at around equivalent to 100€~. Nearly 30 years ago.

What's the point of this? Entertainment has never been as cheap as it is nowadays, and in particular a game with so much replayability as Diablo 2 (easily thousands of hours spent on the original in my case).

I don't understand the outcry. People expect free products?

I agree. Im iffy on buying it, because all i would do is play a couple times, maybe do some runs. I would pick it up on xbox or ps5 depending on the deals. Im to old to put 1000 hours into it, no mater how fun it is. i had me a diablo 3 bot for PC that i enjoyed but i got rid of my pc... so no go.

I already decided unless their is some crazy new awesome end game added I am just going to pirate it, $54.99 is a spit in the face an unrealistic for only redoing the graphics and adding nothing really new, like how about giving people who have the OG connected to their account a 50% discount or something.

  9. #389
If you are too broke to pay 40 bucks for a proper remaster where they did new CGI, complete graphics overhaul etc....then just wait for a deal. Or play wow and make some ez gold. Or get a proper job and your life in check so you don't have to worry about nonsense like this. Like there is so much overpriced sht you pay in your life, paying 40 bucks for a game that you can spend hundreds of hours on doesn't seem like the real problem.

  10. #390
44$ is way too high a price for a remaster, imo, especially since it's apparently just an HD filter over the base game.

That being said I have 26$ in my blizz wallet because Shadowlands has been kind to my gold production, so paying 18$ doesn't seem too bad.

Offline play is a feature not a flaw.

Vicarious Visions is a very good developer.

Other competitors set the precedent by charging similar prices for this style of remaster. This is the price I would have roughly predicted from watching the market.

Early adopters and the people who buy on day 1 set the agenda for future games. You playing a game for free or buying from a bargain bin for 1 dollar...you are voting with your wallet. A "no sale" is the biggest vote of all. Just be sure what you want your vote to convey.

It's much more than just an HD filter over the base game lol.

Except WC3 reforged was made by different people, whereas the ones that worked on this have a good track record.

That's how the real world works.

Besides, surely some of you have gotten jobs since d2, haven't you? 40 bucks is pocket change if you like the game. If 40 bucks is too much, maybe you need to not be spending on games anyway?

Again, it's luxury pixels. Don't like the price, don't pay it.

Only $40? Phew. I thought they'd charge the full price of a new game ($60/$70), but I've been putting up with Nintendo's shit, so...

  17. #397
Kind of sad selling old stuff rather than making new content, Blizz has truly become the company of rehash and resell.

    I don't blame them however.

Blizz is a company, and companies exist to make money. If we want to see who is truly to blame for this, we need only look in a mirror. If folks are willing to pay for stuff like this, obviously Blizz will be happy to oblige and make a profit.

As for me, hard pass. That's a ridiculous price for something that was released over 20 years ago; even if it is remastered.

I'll find something else to spend my $44 on.
