Mod warnings in Threads

They seem pretty pointless when it's made as a REPLY to the thread, as people often miss seeing it.

The Mod should update the thread's title with a [MOD] tag, followed with said warning in the OP.

Example:

[MOD] Burritos are awesome!

Don't you agree?

*Mod Warning - Disagree and you're infracted!*

That would help somewhat...but it's still too easy to miss the mod warning if you're just replying to the people replying to you. Maybe if there was some way to send a notification to the people active in the thread that there has been a mod warning placed on the thread.

Also, just to tack on. Posters should have to read and agree to the forum rules before being able to post in that forum. That way there are no "well, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to talk about X" excuses.

In-thread warnings are meant to steer the active discussion back on topic. If they are disruptive and distracting to the thread, they won't accomplish that.

In threads that are repeatedly having issues, a warning may be edited into the OP.
