When will this BS end? No one is getting punished. No bills are being put forth when libs have 3/3 power to pit against and protect from misinformation being spread. This stuff is getting people killed, fired, and hurt. I'm also sick of this stuff being pushed as the "alt facts"

It's two things, one of which you note. That being the Nazi propaganda tactic of the "big lie"; just lie loudly, openly, aggressively, and repeat it over and over, and people will eventually believe there's no way you could by lying, because who would do that?

The second is the core principle of conservativism, and particularly fascism; paraphrasing from the book "A Brief History of Fascist Lies", the core principle in question is the idea that there is truth, and then there are "higher truths". Fascists appeal to the latter, without exception; it's a core identifying principle. When facts conflict with that "higher truth", those facts are considered ideological lies; "fake news", "lugenpresse", and it's the fascist's lies that are the real truth; "alternative facts" and all that.

It's literally the same thing in the Trump era. This isn't new. This is a story that's been told for 70-odd years, and people are just fucking stupid/malicious enough to fall in line with it yet again. And there really isn't any ground for any other explanations; either they're too stupid to tell the truth from the lies, or they're in on the game and don't care that they're lies, because they believe in that "higher truth".

Nor is this religious. Don't go thinking this is about faith. It's what Orwell called "doublethink". And the worst part is when you dig down into what their "higher truth" really is.

Because it's never something reasonable or defensible. It's always "ethnic minorities and women and LGBT and socialists are the enemy, and must be subjugated and/or exterminated at all costs, using whatever means that can be effectively brought", or some variation/specification thereof. The Nazis added "Jews" in there as the primary driver, but all those other categories were absolutely still on the list. The "higher truth" is always something utterly evil and abominable, and they will practically never openly cop to it. That's why they talk about trickle-down economics, or protecting the border, or protecting the ballot box, or what have you. They know their real reasons expose them as evil, so they just lie to you.

Which shouldn't surprise anyone. Because they're lying about pretty much everything else, too.

Take a look at Fox, so long as they are able to get away with it, they will. Look at Facebook, look at how they basically ignored it and did all but token efforts till at was too late because the liars were the ones they wanted to win. They even refused to treat both sides equally under there rules.

And their viewers, as dumb as they are, aren’t going to get any smarter if that is their only sources and those sources aren’t forced to be honest or objective.

Unless they start pushing for those sources to be honest or outright give a vocal disclaimer that they aren’t news nor do they have any requirements for honesty or accuracy and should not be considered a valid news source then this won’t change until those people die out faster than others start using that outlet.

January 6th is gonna be the test case. That was a fascist insurrection. A really mind-bogglingly stupid and incompetent one, but still, fascist insurrection.

Every single person who entered the Capitol as part of that insurrection should get charged as such. Anyone who provided any aid or support or defense or succor to any of those people, leading up to or in the aftermath, same thing; that still counts as "rebellion or insurrection", under the law. And that applies to any of the members of government who supported them, in any little way.

I'm not saying every one of them needs to face the maximum sentence of 20 years for that (some should, but not a politician who tweeted out a supportive tweet). But there's one aspect of that law that really bears some lasting fruit.

Anyone convicted cannot serve the federal government in any position, ever again. Any elected official convicted is summarily and immediately removed from office, and can never run again. Go home, fuck off.

Just apply that rule consistently, even if that's the only penalty you place on them.

First step to removing fascists as a politically meaningful entity is barring them from serving if they cross that fucking line. Even if it's only by a toe.

Doing some basic Google searches mostly gets me examples of Bernie Sanders condemning Trump's horseshit claims. At best, there's an offhand comment calling the 2016 primary process "rigged" against him, but there's no indication he's talking about anything illegal or fraudulent, just that as an outsider, the deck's stacked against him when he's going up against a long-time Democrat, because Democrats tend to vote for Democrats, not Independents choosing to caucus with Democrats.

If you want me to believe Sanders claimed there was fraud in those primaries, you're gonna have to give me links, because nothing I'm finding supports your claims.

And I'm tired of doing your goddamned homework for you. Do the work, or I have no reason to think you're doing anything but just making it up.
