Asian hate.. what's causing this outburst ?

Only thing i can think of is people thinking China was the reason/origin of covid-19.

Not sure why all these recent stories of people attacking asian people (specifically the elderly) in America started happening and being shown on the news

is there some other motive/origin besides people just randomly blaming asian-americans? I dont understand

There's nothing random about it, its a Republican party platform.

Anti-Asian racism has a long and storied history in the US.

People just happen to have somewhat forgotten about it as in the past 20 years or so white supremacists were distracted by Muslims, Latinos, Blacks. So Asians kinda slid down their shit list.

But this sort of shit tends to be cyclical.

I hope this will lead to a serious moment of introspection in the Asian - American community where a lot of Asians have been solidly Republican for some years now.

Here you have the very people you politically supported now targeting you based on your race. If this ain't a wake up call to stop backing the GOP, I don't know what is.

Curious, then, that most of the attacks are perpetrated by black people. As I recall, Trump didn't enjoy much popularity with our melanin-rich brothers.

Racism has always been around, from ALL races, but people on this thread pinning it on bad orange man as though it's a recent thing with only Whites/Republicans?

What about those two PoC that killed that Uber Eats Pakistani in the recent carjacking, with absolute callousness having concern for their dropped phone and not the dead man beside them? People not immediately calling it racism because the culprits weren't white?

I've seen a lot of racism from PoC towards Asians...

But you'd be right with regards of some of that hate being due to Covid's origin from China.

The media loves to sensationalize things though, keep that in mind.

It's always been there, but it's the next hot thing for the media to focus on. They need something to divert attention away from the other problems in the US (voting system, poor vs rich, taxes, health care, etc.).

You have any evidence for this?

    Here's literally one from yesterday.

So, one example, means MOST of the hate is from African-Americans?

I'm sure you wouldn't be satisfied until I've dug up every single attack, but here's a couple more I remember.

And an interesting article we both know you won't read:

    https://www.voanews.com/usa/anti-asi...d-ethnic-lines

While historically whites have been responsible for most hate crimes reported to the FBI, the arrest data from New York shines a light on a sensitive topic in the Asian American community — that attacks on Asians are often carried out by people of color.

Again, your anecdotal evidence in your first 3 links means nothing. And your last link is only for the state of New York. The other 49 states probably are very different, especially the racist southern states.

And I already read that article before you even linked it, because I tried to fact check your claim, after your first post. And I can't find any evidence, besides that one state that minorities are the main perpetrators of Anti-Asian hate crimes.

You can keep making excuses for black violence, and I'll keep listening to my Asian American/ABC friends, their experiences and concerns. And trust me, it's not white people they're worried about. But it's all anecdotal and doesn't matter at all, right?

    Right.

When no statistic exists, a bunch of anecdotes is the best data you have, my man. Or you can call around the country PDs and ask for some data, before they laugh you out of the phone.

    Right.
I am not making excuses. You claimed that most of them are done by blacks and other minorities, and I asked you for a fucking source. You are right with New York, yes, but not the entire country.

I mean, sure... Covid is a thing, but having a President that hates on the Chinese in almost every second sentence would have that effect. This is why people asked Trump to stop doing that shit, because it would make people feel empowered to live out their racism on the street. It's almost as if they're following the lead of their political leader.

Biden's got to undo that in the upcoming months.

Yep, look at the violence at his rallies from 2016. You see all of those black people that were getting pushed out, some even physically assaulted, and some of the assaulters weren't even arrested. And he pushed that shit being fully racist with his "China Flu" and "Kung Flu" bullshit.

Go back and read both articles for real. The second article in particular addresses the point that you know darned well you are turning this into a snipe hunt because of the way the statistics are tracked. Got any evidence for whatever point you're trying to make?
