Blizzard bowing to this and banning him would make basically anyone outside of China liable to be banned for criticizing them, including people on these boards.
The dude plays for a South Korean team and is South Korean lol, he lives in the US.
Essentially, the dude isn't getting banned which means these teams are just pouting about nothing to suck their government's dick.
They'll forfeit their games like every other team that refuses to play in a sports league.
Since when is third party dickwaving newsworthy?
Did not speak about if it is the right thing to do or not.
But still: People comparing it to the whole Blizchung debacle. Did Blizzard do ANYTHING here? Does not seem like it.
Also water is public property or at least regulated by the state in most countries. Overwatch is not. It is a completly privatized game with no connection to anything you need to live or anything important. There is no reason to NOT have it completly privatized and they beeing allowed to do whatever they want with it and their league.
And again: Nobody at blizzard did anything apparantly. The teams are seperate entities. Blizzard even gets only mentioned once at the end of the article referencing the whole Hearthstone stuff from 2019.
It's funny. People here cheering Twitter/Facebook/YouTube for taking down things that they don't agree with, and then getting angry at China for doing the exact same. See where the logical end to all this censoring it?
You think companies taking down content that is nothing but lies designed to cause unrest and directly lead to an armed insurrection attempt in the US is equivalent to China pretending Taiwan is not a country and destroying Democracy in Hong Kong?
Guess you still think Trump was cheated out of a second term right?
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death
Taiwan is not a country though. Not even the US thinks it is. Not even Taiwan thinks it is. As far as they are concerned they are the legitimate government of China just in exile.
I mean it would be better for all if they actually were able to be the ones actually on charge of China.
Plus no business (or anyone) should tell people. Let alone a nation that's holding a population larger than North America and Europe combined and essentially tell them to prepare to die en mass for freedoms or no nice things for you.
I really hope Blizzard follows through with the demand and bans the guy
he's 100% right, and blizzard will show what gutless cowards they are by siding with china, guaranteed. No matter what china does, blizzard loves their money more than they do any morals, right or wrong, or being a good company.
Blizzard has already sold their soul to the chinese devil (not a racist statement, a slam at the CCP) and the CCP won't stop here. They actually passed a law in the last year that says any citizen of ANY country that badmouths them can be arrested and charged for badmouthing the CCP, and they've wormed their way into major american corporations and film industry too so that any mention of anything china does has to be glowing, and can't be negative or else
this is embarrassing, and we americans should be the first to laugh at them, thumb our nose, and tell them to f right the hell off.... but they won't, they will cower like a bunch of beaten dogs to their master china

yes, because US companies banning people who intentionally spread dangerous misinformation, hate, or downright DANGEROUS messaging intended to hurt people using private platforms that say "don't act bad or be banned".... is the same thing as a foreign government basically telling the entire world that they can't badmouth them or else.
you are truly clueless, and your victim desperation complex is showing. get over it. act like a man, something ur former president never once did in his life
"Cancel-culture" is not the same as witch hunts or the inquisition. And nothing at all to do with censorship. Only states can censor.
Witch hunts/The Inquisition were violent by nature.
"Cancel-culture" is the act when people band together/organize themselves in order to force primarily private companies to change behaviour by the threat of boycott and/or bad PR. It is non-violent by nature. Whether one find it tasteful is another question
But it does have overlap with what Western states do. The best example of state "cancel-actions" are the plethora of sanctions that Western states use against those that are "bad".
The "Blitzchung-incident" was a prime example of Western "cancel-culture".
I am just pointing out the amusing fact that our "opponents" have learned from us and use our own weapons against us.
Added:
But I do agree that "cancel-culture" is a sub-set of mob-justice, but with non-violence as a basic distinguishing factor.

I'd say cancel culture is a BILLION times worse than witch hunts or the inquisition because it is politically destabilizing the United States. The US has thousands of NUCLEAR WEAPONS. So by destabilizing the US, it risks a major political crackup where a large amount of nukes wind up in the hands of a reactionary. Cancel culture is the biggest threat to the human race that has ever existed.
We can NOT be playing these stupid games like pushing for social justice anymore. That went out the window when we developed a slew of nukes. The game is now about political stability. Either we keep the system together or this planet ends in a nuclear fireball.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.
Just to add that China's GDP is expected to surpass US GDP just before or in 2030, so in 10 years.
If we look at PPP then China's economy surpassed the US economy around 2015.
Pwc has projected that China's economy will be twice the size of the US in 2050.
Not only China, but also India and other Asian countries are projected to vastly outgrow Western economies, so any Western company that has an ambition to keep its position in 20 years time will be forced to adapt to this change.
