    WHIP weapon ?

yeh iv been watching the Castlevania series and i really want a WHIP as a weapon

so how long ago did we have had a NEW weapon type in game ? and does it feel like we need more flavor in our Weapon arsenal ?
    i think we do

so here's my general idea about it , everyone who has the ashes of Alar notice how the Tail stretches and shrinks after you move , now think how good it would look like as a WHIP

think of the different color pallets it could have !
i play an Unholy Dk id love to see a variant where my WHIP does some plague or burn dmg
and a paladin does Holy Burn dmg if he has a holy WHIP

anyway to the point i think its time for a new Weapon and it should be a WHIP

and yes im a big Belmont fan because he uses the WHIP as his main weapon

so what do i need to do to get Blizz make this happen ?

nah I don't think that will ever happen. also the examples you gave do you really want to replace a sword/axe/mace etc with a whip? really?

Previously weapons like flails have gone into the Mace category (Prot Warrior Artifact appearance). We can probably assume that a whip or flail archetype would be, by extension, a melee weapon, and would at least in common depictions in the setting be ball-and-chain with spikes type affair, crafted with metal... and for all intense and purposes flails may be a better description of the weapon archetype, at least in terms of the classes you described it would fit better among plate-wearers like warrior, paladin, DK to have a heavier and harder-hitting 'whip' like a flail so I'd use that as the description over 'whip' unless you're intending it to go to lighter classes like rogues and DH or something and have the whip be made of other medium material or something. But, 'whip' I think stops at rogue and DH, I don't really see monk using it unless there's a style of 'whip' that looks like nunchucks or something. But, then, you could probably just call them flail as an archetype and monk would still probably be fine carrying them around like always. Hunter having access to normal whip seems fine, 'flail' seems less fitting of the archetype but could maybe still work with the right animations. Druid as well, whip seems more appropriate than a flail would be. Priest would probably be able to use either (flagellation or traditional cleric vibes), maybe Warlock too in the same kind of violent reasoning theme. Shaman I wouldn't imagine with whips, but flails would be fine for them. Mage I could imagine with whip, but not with flails.

Maybe there's room for two separate archetypes of whip and flail, considering how different the class spread could be and the theming there, but they seem pretty similar in archetype so maybe there's another word they could go by to be more general for both. No idea what that would be though.

It seems if they were going to introduce the weapon type there'd have to be a good reason for it, like a class that introduces it. Off the top of my head maybe Necromancer, Dragonsworn, or Warden would've worked with introducing whips/flails.

There already is such a weapon. The warlock pet Succubus uses it. So it's certainly possible.

The only way to make a whip actually a cool weapon would be if they made a class or spec all about whips. And I don't see them doing something like that, so no thanks

If there's ever a new class, it might fit there. None of the current classes have ever used whips so I don't really see it changing suddenly

A whip is mechanically very different from most current weapons, frankly it seems more likely that it could be implemented as a skill in the same way that outlaw rogues have pistols.

However, if you would want to add it as a "normal" weapon like i.e. glaives for demon hunters , what do you propose to add that makes them new? You could hardly slap them on other transmogs given its mechanical uniqueness.

I mean i am very much for more and more different weapon models, things like falxes, flails and what more, but at least those share some similarity to weapon types already in game, and thus can easily be implemented aa a reskin.

Tell that to my D&D 5e bugbear paladin/rogue with a 15-foot reach sneaky smite, dammit! But let's be real, metal mauls arent realistically effective in combat, but we have tons of those in game. And the succubus deals melee damage just fine. Fantasy>realism.

But yeah can we please just get a proper Flail weapon type first? Usable by paladin, warrior, priest, death knight, and warlock. Needs to be its own weapon type, not mace, because rogues should definitely not use jingly chain weapons.

Warhammers were among the most effective melee weapons irl though, though i'll admit they are nothing like the giant metal mauls in game.

    - Doesnt need anything special. It's like polearms, they reuse animations, but are usable on a different set of classes, and have unique models, fitting a new theme. Make it transmoggable with everything that fist weapons can be transmogged to; all one handed melee weapons.

I sincerely hope they never add an unrestricted reskin of a weapon like a flail. Rogues should definitely not use flails, even though they can use maces. Warlocks should be able to equip flails, even though they cannot use maces. There isn't a weapon type that has the proper class combination for whips: Rogues, hunters, demon hunters, warlocks, monks, and no other classes.
