You know a community is bad when moderators lock a thread because "...this isnt the place to talk about it either seeing as it will get trolled..."

What the fuck? Current developers change things that old developers didn't find offensive therefore because I played the game in the past I support only the old developers' decisions? This take is so completely devoid of anything resembling logic that I have a hard time believing you actually feel this way.
I generally don't care about the changes at all, Old jokes are whatever. It's what was removed in general. A masturbation joke, a fart in the tub joke, a dwarf saying she has strong thighs. It's all beyond the point of cleaning up, it is puritanism regardless of the mental gymnastics people play to say otherwise and now that kind of writing will purvey through all the story telling elements.
It has nothing to do with them feeling "safe". It's them removing things they find icky or personally unsavory. This is the writing team working for WoW now and it will only get worse as time goes on as that kind of puritan sentiment starts to pervade actual game story.
To be fair, there's a few active investigations going on by government entities that I'm positive are not gamers, and I'm sure they find everything in the gamer world, "distasteful." That's the reason for the changes, imo.
The real problem are the people here ignoring the fact that the game has 1M or less subscribers now, and has has bled almost 60% of the playerbase since Shadowlands launched. How the heck can they try to argue that the game is bringing in new players when it can barely hold onto the players that it has? lol. I'm glad that people still enjoy the game, I wish I did. I enjoyed the shit out of this game since 2009, and I don't regret any of the time I spent in WoW. I just cancelled my sub last month, and I don't think I'll be back unless there's some massive changes in the dev team. I can't continue to play a game when the modern gameplay loop is chores. I pay to play games to avoid life, not to do chores.
Some shit was removed for creeping out the devs (although I laugh at the people whining about "puritanism" and wonder how they reacted to a certain minor scandal during BlizzCon right before Wrath, because that was also a shitshow of reactionary tears). I suspect that some other shit may have been deemed dated or just too stupid (like the "shout-out to my boys in Gnomeregan" joke, although damned if I can guess why the tauren one about leather was removed even with those potential provisos). That said: the admission that things were removed for creeping out the devs seems to have been specifically about the incubi and altered background details; there seems to have been something of a time gap between that and it getting out that the emotes, etc. had been removed.

Ask me about Deceiver's Vengeance, the Argus Scrolls, or why Tyn does not approve.
Good work can still be improved upon.
Most companies start out small and hardcore and trying to keep it real. When they become giant companies, the temptation to sell out is overwhelming. ESPN for example is a sellout because it focuses on gossip now. Yesterday was a big sports day with 2 playoff baseball games and an NFL game between Rams and Seahawks. What does ESPN talk about? Bears coach Matt Nagy and that they dislike him because he lacks “podium presence” during pressers. Its just about gossip now to ESPN. for Blizzard, they sold out and no longer cater to gamers. Their new focus is shareholders. They are big into adding minigames to wow like its a phone game. They refuse to remove that damn mission table. They add more stuff that would probably work with a phone port. Its just bad.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.
you mean the echo chamber of hiring former Bush White house advisors? ones who should be brought up on crimes against humanity?
They don't need tell me that twice... They brought game to place, where instead of fun i feel it is work. Doing everyday emisaries, only to gain gold, to continue playing? Where i have fun with that? Myself i can only buy gametime by gold, and currently in EU is 300K gold, so yeah i'm done. A bit sad, because i loved do some RP walking in Stormwind or Orgrimmar, avoiding Pornshire, do some old content for transmogs and stuff.
I don't even bother myself about censorship in game. But i find it hilarious, that they doing it now.
