Holy has been fine at best, it’s never good.
But overall I don’t like this idea because they have a hard enough time balancing the tank specs they have. Tank specs have to be pretty balanced in survivability and in Blizz’s desire to make all the specs play differently, they have trouble keeping their survivability balanced.

You're probably right, but in general, even if discard those options with "Council of *race/faction*" mechanic, then... for example, something that is physically doesn't/can't to folow (picture/hologram/Disco(party)-ball), which uses magic spells, activates traps in room and summon minions/mini-bosses. Of course, problem here, even at the moment, more isn't in organization of such mechanics (I'm sure they have enough imagination for this), but in wretchedness of specs' capabilities, even from those videos, that were in my quote, level of preparation is visible (alchemy, gear, other people's and own buffs) - all this preparation was flushed down toilet, because even with such mechanic in current spec-class/characteristics conditions, it will be easier to push "melee" tank (there is also old problem of new design in excessive universalization/homogenization/specialization of tanks, as representatives of role, we already talked about this above when we discussed fall of class architecture; it's unlikely that dd will be able to effectively replace such a "specialized" similar representative) with nose against the wall or wherever boss will be located and will have to pretend be "monkey in front of mirror" (although if boss is somewhat raised above the ground, then it will be problematic, also, it will make it impossible for melee group to damage it, and thus farm solo, but no one wants that, right?).Triceron
It's going to fall on deaf ears, because they're going all-in on blind faith that Blizzard is capable of miracles and can will it into existence without angering the playerbase through the various changes needed in order to make sense of the addition.
Alternative: group don't need to kill it at first, just distract from healers, and after certain degree of "exhaustion", due to constant use of all own mechanics, it would go down and being already finished there. However, I'm afraid, this can be called full-fledged tanking only with semantic stretch.
So... yes, you're right.
