Yes, yes they can, some support putin, some think as long as they keep their heads down they'll be missed and some don't think they are noticed. Others don't care and flout the party line because they think they can't be touched, Shoigu's son-in-law, for example, is starting to be more critical of the war.

China has already started the war with Taiwan. They just haven't started the invasion yet because they would get their ass handed to them.

Shoigu's son-in-law has been vocally anti-war since the beginning, actually.

Russian unit complains of receiving "criminal orders" and being sent into battle "to be slaughtered"

From CNN's Hannah Ritchie, Tim Lister, Josh Pennington and Maria Kostenko
    https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-...a368f20cd3cf1c

“We ask for help in dealing with the unlawful and criminal orders of our command … the soldiers of the territorial defense were made into assault units in a single day and were sent to assault the Avdiivka stronghold — without any support from artillery, communications, sappers, reconnaissance — to be slaughtered.”
“DPR commanders are firing machine guns and infantry fighting vehicles at our mobilized soldiers because (they) refuse to join the assault units. There is no point in appealing to the local military prosecutor's office since they are in full collusion with the commanders … At this point, this battalion has been almost completely destroyed,” the hooded soldier continued.

Why is it that despite such obvious contempt and disregard for their lives these poor fools refuse to kill the ones treating them so callously?

First these poor souls would need the brains to figure out that disregard for the lives of their own soldiers is standard practise in the ruZZki military, and not an accident or a rogue commander doing whatever.

Avdiivka is in Donetsk, a region Russia formally considers to be Russia now.

They really ought to have expected that they would be told to do that with "territorial defense" units after that.

From how hard Russia tries to project strength, I guess that's to be expected. They are coping with being weaklings.

Because Stalin created the perfect slave with his eugenics program.

Oh, on the contrary, I really think that they consider it "normal". I don't think they can comprehend that a military could function in any other way. So they just accept it.

Oh, I'm unlikely to ever go there, given that I've never served in the first place due to health problems, and I'm over the age of conscription, at least for now.

As for the mood, I can't really say much. The pundits on TV are slowly progressing in their insanity and inanity; the "Talks about the most important" propaganda lessons are apparently such a complete failure due to children truanting them that the government is going to air them on the state channel; those living on state budget and students promised free grades are gathered to create the visibility of public support for the war and complain that the free entertainment isn't worth the cold; the Z-people have long been pushed back to their nihilistic marginalia corner of existence due to their paraphernalia being commercially unviable, with only "virtue" signaling politicians utilizing it as a form of career lift; there's this video of a Samara Oblast Duma deputy for the Communist party attentively listening to the presidential address with literal noodles hanging from his ears; and arrests for solitary anti-war pickets, of course. We're on the whole firmly in the contemptuous stage of social apathy.

Putin could could end the war tomorrow and everyone except a few loonies, whom he could safely murder, would breath a sigh of relief. But he won't, because he really believes that the Evil West was going to use Ukraine as a staging ground against him, and the help Ukraine gets only proves it. His logic is so perfectly circular that you would need to violate Planck length to give it more resolution. Reportedly, he also believes that it's a good thing that all the problems in the army and industry showed themselves now and not during the inevitable war against NATO, which he apparently believes he can somehow win. I can only guess he has never seen how much the US alone spends on its military. Maybe the best thing Biden can do to end this war is send him his country's budget plan.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a meeting with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia. He can be seen warmly greeting the man (above).

As the President's press service later reported, the talks emphasised the importance of Saudi Arabia's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly within the UN. The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula. Zelenskyy invited Saudi Arabia to take part in the relevant diplomatic process, in particular to join the implementation of certain points of the formula.

The President emphasised that despite the ongoing armed aggression, our country continues to contribute to global food security. The parties expressed hope that Saudi Arabia would join the Ukrainian initiative to supply grain to African countries suffering from hunger.

Lot of chatter about an explosion at a Belarusian airfield being used by russia, in which 1 of only 7 working russian awacs was taken out, reportedly by Belarusian partisans using drones.

I don't suppose the 6 remaining can be spared easily from their defensive tasks. I mean, with the deployment of, allegedly, 97% of the russian army in Ukraine their defenses are stretched as it is.

Lmao. Before anyone tries to racist, I am arab.

But this shows you just how two faced Gulf Nations really are. Guaranteed they support Russia materially. KSA can never fully be against Russia when they are far more anti-turkish

  17. #29337
It's probably also driven by Iran. Iran is backing russia so SA naturally will back Ukraine as a result.

The Russian military on state-sponsored tv tonight suggested nuking the San Andreas Fault and Yellowstone in order to set off the caldera and earthquakes, with the genius theory that it would end Western civilization. A) that's not how earthquakes work, B) nuclear war on the US or NATO is bi-directional, something some Russians are apparently need reminded of, and C) it's a good example of why the appeasement and isolationist suggestions of the right - mimicking the flawed and ridiculed policies of Neville Chamberlain prior to WW2, can't be taken seriously. Yes, let's copy the disastrous policy of the worst Western leader that history proved most wrong in the entire 20th century which lead to empowering Hitler to invade Europe under false historical claims (sound familiar?) and the caused the deaths of millions, brilliant idea.

As I commented on a certain YouTube channel a day or so ago when this was aired: "Do these jokers have any idea how strong the nukes need to be to achieve what they want? At that point they might as well just use the nukes on military targets."

even if they could do that, they'd shoot themselves in the foot several times over... the amount of soot from the eruption would blanket the earth for several years atleast.
