one ration = 2 days of food for one person = 3USD. Get outside the big cities and Russia is very impoverished. Good deal tbh.

You'd have to dig her out of a Siberian gulag first. Assuming she will still be alive in the first place.

You underestimate the MRE market my friend. MREs aren't exactly available to people outside of a military despite there being a dedicated market of preppers, enthusiasts, collectors, and people who are simply curious willing to pay a premium for them.

Quality MREs fit for a modern military require infrastructure and logistics in place to produce. If you happen to find yourself sanctioned by most of the war in a poorly planned war then its likely cheaper to import surpluses from others.

I've only ever tasted one and it wasn't great nor awful, but it's so much better than going hungry.

You'd be shocked how hard it is to feed an army. Especially one on deployment. For weeks to months.

In this case, that's somewhere around 300 thousandish soldiers who all need about 3 meals or 2500 cals a day just to literally not starve in a matter of days. That's about 900,000 meals...a day. We're going on 20 days now...that's about 18 million meals. That's a lot of fucking food. Even assuming they aren't all MREs, all probably a lot of it is either field kitchens, commercially available stuff etc.

MRE production is also not something that can be cranked up easily as under normal circumstance you just don't need that much of them. Western powers tend to have larger production volumes because MRE makers also produce stuff that is donated as food aid and emergency rations for civilians and such.

They probably never had huge stockpiles of them in the first place. Taking into account the normal graft and corruption in Russia, a good percentage of those MREs only exist on paper as they were either never made or some were straight up stolen. Add to that the Russians were on "exercises" for weeks before the invasion...they probably never had enough of them anyway.

I think the hype is getting too far.
So, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Russia is literally running out of gas trying to reach Kyiv. Not sure your sarcasm is warranted. I'm not pulling this out of my ass, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of vehicles littering the streets to Kyiv to prove my point.

Seriously, we need Tucker Carlson to testify in front of Congress that he's an American who loves America.
You should have him testify if he thinks he qualifies as a human being capable of original thought. If not, shoot him like the dog he is.

Not sure if it has been posted yet, but Putin has signed into law a bill that will allow Russia to seize Western-owned airliners that were leased to Russian airlines.

This, of course, effectively guarantees that Boeing and AirBus are never going to do business with Russia again. Or any other civilian aircraft manufacturer that isn't in Russia itself. Russia can't get the replacement parts needed to keep the planes flying, either, unless they are willing to get extorted on the black market given how worthless the ruble is now.

Of course, this all gets mitigated by WW2 type Russian strategic thinking. So instead of 18 million meals you're looking at about 6 million bowls of soup and pieces of bread with large amounts of vodka. Oh and of course they rely on pillaging, because... scorched Earth is the only thing Russia is good at.

so hang on the FSB generals that got arrested....There was a plan to cultivate assets within Ukraine. Russia spent billions recruiting Ukranians organizations/people to make a smooth transition when they took over. This was going on for years.

Only problem was the money was just being stolen and whomever was cultivating the assets was like 'yup Ukraine will welcome Russian invasion'.

You do have to love russian corruption and graft. I would laugh but this level of corruption is infecting British politics (its getting more brazen at least)

    Hello, haaave you met Europe?

Calm down. You're a baby nation and far from real darkness. You've still got plenty of time to fuck it up. Heck, you've barely destroyed the world as we know it yet.

ha ha... yeah it's not enough to still have the residual 9/11 fearmongering, let's reach back and compound it. that always accomplishes things.

So what's to stop those airliners from taking the planes back once they land outside of Russia?

I know Russia is a HUGE country, but it's kind of weird to me to think that all air travel in the country will be limited to within the country. With their economy going to shit will anyone be able to afford to fly? It's not cheap over here so I can imagine how bad it will be over there.
