My initial concern was that this would be a Blue Checkmark making unsubstantiated nonsense claims—but this is an actual editor for Bloomberg, and WSJ made the claim.

I admit, my Imminent Critique side is pretty suspicious of this, given the continuous growth of corporate juggernauts this would entail—conversely, my loser gamer side who just wants to see Funni Flashing Lights and fulfilling gameplay is excited, since at least it isn't continuous autonomy on the part of Activision-Blizzard. They're a competent evil company, at least.

I'm not certain if that's a sensible desire. A lot of WoW is contingent on PC qualities, like keyboard use and whathaveyou. Wistful thinking, I think, since it's too many buttons for most controllers, too reliant on text for speech, etc.

WoW is simply incompatible with Consoles.

So, they were playing the long game ... only to deprune in the expansion right before selling? This was also probably not a planned thing, much less for many years. This is obviously the result of desperation on the part of Blizzard to escape bad publicity, plus COVID making operations too convoluted.
