What sports should they bring back to the Olympics?

Should they bring back any of these sports:
    croquet
    cricket
    jeu de paume
    pelota
    polo
    roque
    rackets
    tug-of-war
    lacrosse
    motor boating

Only lacrosse, if any, but I'm not sure how widespread it is.

20-20 cricket could find some purchase at the Olympics, but I'm not sure how it'd differentiate itself from other existing tournaments.

Tug of War would be a great viewer experience.
Ex-Mod. Technically retired, they just won't let me quit.

I think Tug of War would be interesting.

Lacrosse, Cricket, and Water Polo are still in the Olympics. Also, they should bring back American Football. If you disagree your city clearly has not hosted an olympics nor will it be hosting one in the next decade.

Why would the Olympics field a sport that only one country plays?

Whats that sport the Aztecs (maybe mayans?) used to play with the vertical board with the hole in it. (Namors people were playing it in wakanda forever for a more modern reference)

Anyway that. - and yes I know. But somehow I think I'd find this more interesting than either volleyball or basketball.

    Others I'd watch:

The one that's like Croquet except they're on horseback.
Something involving an obstacle course of some kind.
Sword fighting (not fencing. Give them long swords)
Group war games. Like paintball, but with melee weapons blunted/tipped in paint. (This already exists and its awesome)
    Chariot racing

They should bring back Architecture after removing it in 1948, when the Austrian Adolf H. won the gold medal.

Other than Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand...

They all play college football. The American kind.
UAE is the current English national champion btw

    Or is it UEA?

Not at an olympic level, no, they don't... American football is definitely a north american only thing at any remotely international level of play.

I mean, there's lots of current Olympic sports you could easily say the same about. Women's ice hockey is the number one thing that comes to mind - only Canada and the US have programs that have any chance of winning gold and it's been that way since the sport entered the Olympics. It really should be removed if that is the criteria used to keep football out.

    Lacrosse isn't in the Olympics.
    Cricket isn't in the Olympics.
    Polo =/= Waterpolo
    Polo isn't at the Olympics.
While I like American Football, the only country where it's played professionally is the US, unlike basketball and baseball. It would just be a free US gold medal.

That's polo. Probably the most elite sport in the world and that includes the Formula One.

The Olympics are an amateur sport. You can't walk away from an NFL team like you can the NBA, or college athletics.

Ever wondered why college football has better games on more consistently than the NFL?

Not to knock the NFL as it has its own product, but CFB is just all around better. It's more chaotic, more dramatic, with less stupid rules that come about because 1 team out of 32 actually knows how to scrum.

If you don't like CFB rules, then fine, let's play by Alliance of American Football rules. All hail the SkyJudge, and go Stallions.

Not American football that's for damn sure.
Enabling that particular country's ongoing psychotic self-obsession like that is just going to influence both negatively.
(or to paraphrase some British dude on that sport's similarity to rugby: "The main difference is that rugby is played by men", which simultanously illustrates the crudeness and shallowness involved in both those sports).

It should, however, be noted that the hosting country always gets to add some local sports to the program, so should the Americans host it yet again then their local version of football would of course be able to feature yet again.

More on topic: I would personally like to see (non-ice) speed skating feature.

It is a very popular sport all over south america with a more modest following elsewhere, and while i personally am no good at it at all i do think it would be a suitable addition, especially in acknowledgement of the rapidly rising importance of non-western perspectives on such international events.

American here, who won state in rugby. It's always fun to see football return to its roots with scrumming. However, it's beyond time for the stereotype of American Football (college subvariant specifically) only being played in NA to die, though I appreciate your recognition that it's no longer just a yank thing.

I can name teams in Canada, Mexico, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Australia, NZ, Japan, Germany, France, Greece, Italy, and Spain. While it's true that most of these teams are outside the governance of the NCAA, they still have recent rules developments such as targeting. To me, that's a close enough ruleset to warrant an olympic competition, especially when Olympic Quidditch is a thing.

There are twice as much people playing rugby worldwide then gridiron. Gridiron is inferior to rugby in countries like Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia. The latter also has Aussie rules. I like gridiron, also played it myself but that stuff is pretty much non-existent outside North America. NFL Europe was a failure, especially with that homegrown rule. All of them were kickers, with soccer experience.
There are about 6 million people play gridiron in the US. On a population of what? 320 million?
Over here 1.2 million people playing association football. With a population of 17 million. And we have 6 teams in gridiron.
But hey, almost every single post of you in this thread had so many false claims.
