How about you let us decide that for ourselves.
I can't even afford a pre-order until next month so I won't be pre-ordering anything even if I wanted to.
I've always found that even if the expansion is objectively not so great, the first month of expansion launch is always hype and fun. The not so hot ones generally have me for 2 months max per launch. 2 months out of a 24 month expansion. They could get an additional $330 per expansion out of me through subscription fees if they made it good to play all the ways through but that never happens unfortunately. We know for a fact the launch will bring in tons of players, good or not. It's always about making a product worth staying subscribed for that they're not good at. That's what they really need to work for.
You're entire post is missing my point.
You keep spouting "1% chance of making it better for 1%". What if that 1% is making it worse for 40%? or just 2%?
You talk about caring for others while ignoring people who might like things as they are.
You are making a mistake by thinking if it's better for 1% it means it didn't change for anyone else, except that it did indeed change for everyone who decides to play the game. So for some that change is for the worse while for some it's for the better while it's neither here nor there for majority.
You make the assumption that any change that's happening because of not pre-ordering is for the better when that's foolish. Because any change, even if you dislike how it currently is, could lead to the worse. Hell, even if there is a change that is better according to you or the 1%, it could be worse for the 2% or more.
Saying you care about the 1% and that others aren't thinking of others is kind of weird. Since that's not even close to majority and usually when people care for others it's because it's a majority, to think of as many people as you can. Especially when it comes to stuff where you can't please everyone. Usually when you think of the small %, it's often because it's inline with your own goals. Do you want Blizzard to change WoW's direction? if yes, then I can see why you argue for the 1%.
however, my entire point is that if you don't pre-order because you think it can lead to change so some might enjoy WoW. People can choose to pre-order to have it stay the same for the people who enjoy the game. Both of the choices is thinking of one group ahead of the other. None of the choices encompasses everyone.

Not sure there's that much of a difference between a customer and a blind fan. Perhaps you're thinking too fairly of the customer, when in fact a customer is likely a self-centered individual who puts their wants and needs first, even if they've been get shafted years on end.
honestly, even if half of players didnt peorder it wouldnt have effect, beta is when they test things already DONE, they wont scratch the expansion and start over they might do minor changes and thats it, but that have fuck all to do with preorders, more with feedback... if they wanted to gut the expansion and start over it wouldnt be ready before 2025, and people leaving in the meantime due to no new content would cost them more than people leaving due to not liking new content

tbh, we KNOW what it is, it wont be some new game it will be wow expansion, after playing the game for 17 years i think i have an idea if ill like the next expansion, or at least if ill get my moneys worth...

except you dont even know where they account preorder earnings, and given they count all preorders in day1 sales im pretty sure they count the money there too, bcs for investors it would look pretty bad that at release game didnt earn much... thats probably why they count preorders into day 1 sales after all...
so if you buy it today or on release day or anytime between it doesnt matter... if you dont buy it at all, thats different, but doesnt have much to do with preorders

"How can they keep getting away with unfinished releases?!?"
This thread:
People can't admit to themselves preorders haven't made any logical sense for 10+ years cause they can't stop foaming at the mouth over new collectibles for a game they know nothing about.
Preorders made sense when everything still came in physical form, as a way to be certain you would be in possession of the game and not rely on retailers having enough stock.
Gamers have no spine.
yeah ofc, but the OPs advice is 100% correct. if you want a good xpac as next xpac, you should not pre give them their money.
they should keep the goal of „we must deliver this time“ till release. if you pay them for ideas, images and marketing before release, Blizzards greedy management will go „we already made our money“ and cut game designers budgets. result: another halfassed xpac release.
we as customers want quality and quantity. we get none of them, if we pre pay them for thin air.

how about ppl not being that stupid, so OP don’t need to give such advice?
This. I will play the next expansion no matter what. I may not like it and quite during. But I will be there having fun at launch with my friends.
My life those revolve arround hating Blizzard or any other company reall and the price is literally irrelevant to me. It's a very instant pre-order as soon as available. Haters gonna hate, if pathetic nolifers have nothing better to do good for them I guess. But maybe get out and touch some grass cause you're damn pathetic...
If anything I'll pre-order just to annoy OP at this point.
