That is extremely easy to get past we are talking about scammer with tons and tons of stolen credit cards. Even if you don't have a stolen one you can create a temp card and get it done. Also some genius cut Twitter's staff in half making it harder to run verifications.

I don't understand why CEOs have a problem with WFH. I'd have thought they'd be happy for the opportunity to downsize their HQ and save some money.

CEOs tend to be people with fragile egos and rather have their adulation done in person, I know CEOS who have expensive offices solely to say their company is located at so and so address not because it makes financial sense.

Lots have long leases on current property or, like Apple, have built brand-new, super expensive "campuses" specifically for their employees. Management doesn't like seeing that money go to "waste" by not using the space, especially if they had it built, and there are a lot of managers who generally don't believe WFH is productive even if the data largely shows that people are as productive, if not more, while WFH. Because if they can't see it, or have middle-management see it and report to them, it doesn't exist. Because they fundamentally do not trust their employees, either.

It's why you see so many threads about places like call centers that have WFH have insanely invasive monitoring software including mandatory webcam access that can flag an employee if they step away from their machine to heat up some tea or take a shit.

They want to be able to peek over your shoulder and make sure you're not playing Minesweeper.

That's basically it. It's deeply petty and insecure.

There's tons and tons of new impersonation accounts running wild all over Twitter, and yet moderation is doing nothing about it. Man, wonder if that means that Elon didn't care at all about impersonation, and only cared about people impersonating him to make fun of him!

    What a fucking snowflake.

1/ Just want to put this news in plain language for people.

Senior people at Twitter have resigned in the last 48 hours. We now now why. They said in private Slack channels that @
    elonmusk
is so desperate to recoup his money, he’s taking crazy risks with YOUR privacy and safety.

    Thread in link

I have seen this multiple time now. The private slack seems true that employees using the private grievance channel seem all to upset at this shit show. He fired half staff, brought engineers from Tesla and likely has them spread so thin and is gutting things and just throwing shit at the wall. Good Luck!

They've leased space for years. They have to justify that somehow. Downsizing is a sign of things going poorly this quarter. Things are only allowed to go up each quarter. You must appease The Line.

If they aren't watching their workers closely ensuring not a single second is wasted, barring the CEOs 90 minute liquid lunch that is, the workers might start acting their wage.

Elon Musk is putting Twitter at risk of billions in fines, warns company lawyer

"The Verge reached out to Musk for comment. Twitter no longer has a communications department."

    Might be spicy.

NEW: A senior member of Twitter’s legal team just posted this message in Slack:“Everyone should know that our CISO, Chief Privacy Officer and Chief Compliance Officer ALL resigned last night. This news will be buried in the return-to-office drama. I believe that is intentional.”

Wow. Elon Musk just told Twitter employees he’s not sure how much run rate the company has and “bankruptcy isn’t out of the question.”

She has more posts so check the link out. I'm giving the highlights. Her source is from Twitter's slack.

Plus she has a blue check mark, so must be legit. KeK.

Who wants to start a pool as to the date when Musk takes Twitter public again to try and at least get back a few billion he lost by issuing tons of stock after it goes public?

I think he's going to pull a hedge fund tactic on this mess and have twitter borrow money to pay him back for the purchase while driving the company into bankruptcy
    Buh Byeeeeeeeeeeee !!

Mostly has to do with long term leases for office space.

Instances of racial slurs have soared on Twitter since Elon Musk purchased the influential platform, despite assurances from the platform that it had reduced hateful activity, a digital civil rights group reported Thursday.

Researchers at the Center for Countering Digital Hate found that the number of tweets containing one of several different racial slurs soared in the week after Musk bought Twitter.

A racial epithet used to attack Black people was found more than 26,000 times, three times the average for 2022. Use of a slur that targets trans people increased 53%, while instances of an offensive term for homosexual men went up 39% over the yearly average.

Examples of offensive terms used to target Jews and Hispanics also increased.

All told, the researchers looked at nearly 80,000 English-language tweets and retweets from around the world that contained one of the offensive terms they searched for.

“The figures show that despite claims from Twitter’s Head of Trust and Safety, Yoel Roth, that the platform had succeeded in reducing the number of times hate speech was being seen on Twitter’s search and trending page, the actual volume of hateful tweets has spiked,” according to the analysis from the center, a nonprofit with offices in the U.S. and United Kingdom.
Gee, I guess that increasingly turning Twitter into a 4chin board won't attract advertisers? Who would have thought!

Sure, but they could cut costs by just letting that office space lease lapse. If they own the building, oh well.

As much as I'm sure most of these are just people being genuinely racist, sexist, bigoted, etc. I have to wonder how much of this is also being somewhat fueled by other social media platforms whose value and profits would soar if they saw an increased userbase.

There's also been a theory floating around. Since basically all other car companies pulled their ads from Twitter, people have been wondering if it's been their efforts to hurt Tesla. My take is that they simply don't want to be associated with far right hate speech, and tanking Tesla is just a nice bonus.

It is interesting, that the regions with the highest GDP growth in 2022 are those with high percentage of WFH employees.

"Among metropolitan areas, the Bay Area – San Francisco-Oakland and Berkeley to San Jose, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara – had more than a third of its workforce working remotely. That’s the highest percentage of remote workers in the nation."

You're giving the managerial class way too much credit.

They look at a big empty building and think about how much money they're wasting on it, so they gladly fill it with employees even if it means a reduction in productivity because then that money isn't being "wasted" anymore. Baby brain shit.

It's only a matter of time before Twitter is just people with anime avatars and banner ads for hentai and fleshlights. Just as Elon planned.

Paying for Twitter Blue will just show you more targeted porn ads instead of the generic stuff!

I mean, you and I both know it's more about paranoia and control. Many have admitted that workers need to be constantly monitored to work at peek efficiency, meanwhile basically... every metric proves this wrong.

Conservative principles always boil down to one single thing: Gaining, maintaining, or preventing loss of control over people.
