Only seen as a benefit to a GQP nominee.

You mean "Gaetz attracts the young audience, the voters of tomorrow."?

Spending $28 million to bail out Peter Thiel's hand-picked little fascist in a state Trump won by 8 points. Things are going great.

A political action committee with close ties to U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is launching a massive new ad campaign in Ohio, a clear sign that national Republicans are shifting more toward playing defense in the Buckeye State.

The Senate Leadership Fund is reserving $28 million worth of TV and radio ads that will air statewide, the group announced Thursday.

McConnell is already laying the groundwork for continued (or greater) Democratic control of the Senate - https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...date-rcna43777

He's a terrible human being, but he's not an idiot.

Indeed not an idiot. Love this quote:
Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.
Meaning the GQP can put up any asshat racist fuck for the Congressional roles and they will probably win. But when it comes to the Senate, they need non-Deplorable people.

Depending on how fundamentally pissed and terrified she is of what a second Trump term would mean to the United States and the world (and, keep in mind, she's seen the classified stuff the Jan 6 has received), because the best case scenario of a 2024 Trump Presidential win is "we're totally fucking fucked", she might start an independent campaign specifically designed to prevent the GQP from winning the White House.

She is very bright. And has finally come around to fighting the Dark Side.

Nevertheless, BBC has a piece about how it may not be over and how she may have a crucial role in prying suburban women from Trump's voters. She may not get elected to anything herself, but she may get even.
She got 38% of Wyoming's GQP vote. She has national name recognition. And Dark Money could work in the United States' favor here, and allow Liz to run a nationwide campaign with just a few major contributors.

By and large correct, but we still have Ted Cruz.

Pretty much what I'm hoping for at this point.

The thing is, it doesn't take much. Just steering one state a wee bit away from one party can shift the entire election. Thanks, Electoral College.

It's basically what the GOP banks their entire presidential strategy on, so it'd be nice to flip it around.

Unfortunately, the members of the GOP smart enough to vote for Cheney because they realize how dangerous trump is are those same people who also realize that voting for an independent means wasting your vote, and will congeal around the GOP nominee.

Meanwhile, the “die on trump hill” morons actually would vote for trump if he ran as an independent, if not because they think he’d win as an independent (which some definitely still might think) then purely out of spite, because that’s the ultimate wavelength they operate on.

I suppose the number of GOP voters morally offended by trump who were offered the “dignified choice of voting for Cheney instead, rather than sitting out the election or voting for a democrat” might be non-zero, but I don’t ultimately know the effectiveness here.

Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!

    Is...he quoting himself? >.>

That's just like...sad. Not even addressing the whole "political candidate endorses political violence against federal officials" bit which is uh...yeah.

Eh... He's not directly calling for people to shoot federal agents, just saying that he wants to make it legal to do so. Though if people DO shoot them on sight, there's certainly an argument to be made for stochastic terrorism.

If anyone does, he can be charged with inciting it, just like Charles Manson. He never killed anyone, but he still was convicted of killing people.

So I'm going to save my celebrations for if the democrats are able to retain/add to their majority.

The potential mitigating factors of that convention, including the aforementioned lack of GOP funds, are that the overturn of Roe v. Wade could very easily serve to galvanize democrat voters, Biden recently pushed through a great deal of legislation, and the GOP lacks an effective message to campaign against Biden with. Gas Prices have already fallen, and if inflation levels out by November they will, quite literally, have nothing of substance to hold against Biden. Meanwhile, the GOP is dealing with an enormous image problem as various criminal and civil proceedings are brought against GOP members, all revolving around Trump and their politicians struggle to distance themselves from it.

But again, we'll have to see.

But he was embezzling from Medicaid, surely that means he would do right by Republican money!
