Fastest Class to lvl on Launch for new servers?

I assume Hunter is still the fastest to 55 for unlocking DK asap. Would to do a Paladin Tank, but if I remember they still level slow as hell. Maybe druid? curious if anyone has any data on this.

If you can get ahead of the pack, mage AoE grinding is the fastest by a lot. But if you have to compete for spawns, it falls behind pretty quickly.

If you're competing against others, the top 3 are Hunter, Druid, and Warlock in WotLK.

Hunters & Locks are both great due to pets & recovery. Locks weren't that great preLK due to bad voidwalker scaling and DPS/threat caps on voidwalker. With the buffs and talent reworks, both pet classes are great.

Druids have the benefit of self heals + cat form which is very efficient. LK makes them even better with energy recharging while in caster form which basically removes downtime, along with better mana management talents making oom'ing difficult.


Rogues are warriors are still quite bad with no real recovery, and no support from mains, so gear and bandages/potions will be a constant issue. Avoid them.

Paladins are good after like level 60, before that they really struggle with mana management so you'll be stuck auto attacking with a seal most of the game. A bit better than warrior/rogue but not by much.

Mage(not AoE) & priest both suffer from a lot of downtime and pushback making killing things slow.

Shamans are middle of the pack with good recovery and damage, but it takes a while for their DPS to come online with dual wielding locked until level 40

I'm not really sure about that one thou. Two-handed enhancement shaman in Wotlk were pretty powerful before DW. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong cause when I leveled my shaman, it was with heirlooms with Vanilla enchants (Crusader).

There are plenty of answers online but most of which are going to give you data for if you are an extremely skilled leveler or grinder overall.

In a perfect scenario where you get ahead of the pack and you are an extremely skilled leveler then the answer is mage. But becasue you asked the question in the first place I’m going to assume you aren’t in that category to be competing at that level (no offense).

With that I would say the quickest is probably hunter.

Hunters have the most range with instant cast tagging abilities as well as almost never having to worry about mana or healing.
