Republicans Try not to kiss up to and sing the praises of fascist dictators challenge (Impossible)
I think we can all agree that Hitler didn't do much to help diversity in Europe during his lifetime, but there are other factors to consider. One of the major issues with America is its crumbling infrastructure, such as its failure of a railway system. Say what you want about his foreign and domestic policy, but the man was invested in his countries infrastructure and was dedicated to making their trains as efficient as possible. /s
Seriously though, is this actually surprising? America has a long history with Nazism. Many people seem to forget that America's Jim Crow laws were an inspiration for the Nazis, as the supposedly democratic institutions had formalized some of the most comprehensive race laws in the world. Even the idea of masking Nazi ideology within "Pro-America" messaging is not new to the MAGA movement and was an obvious conclusion reached as a result of western bigotry, which was most prominent in America and Germany in the 19th and 20th centuries.
I appreciate that the idea of someone who is socially conservative supporting Nazis might appear surprising because <insert flippant "current year" statement here>, but it's not all that unexpected. If you look at American history you can see how modern conservatism naturally links to Nazism, and you can even look at their messaging and see the similarities between then and now. I know that there's going to be some people on the forum who are rightly uncomfortable about this but will also try and dismiss America's historic and current problems with Nazis by citing going to war with Germany. All I can say in response is that while America may have gone to war with Germany, it did virtually nothing to deal with the endemic problem of Nazi beliefs which had become ingrained within its culture. It took over 20 years after the second world war for the Jim Crow laws to be repealed, and even after this the culture still deemed overt hatred of non-white people as socially acceptable. This resurgence of Nazi beliefs is not some new scab or some old scar that has been re-opened, this is an eschar that has been left to necrotize and now we're grossed out because it's leaking pus; this is a culture of fascism which has been waiting to return for decades, with the only difference between now and before being that it is now overtly clashing with civilized culture.
Sylvanas didn't even win the popular vote, she was elected by an indirect election of representatives. #NotMyWarchief
It's amazing that these people cannot simply utter the words "We need a charismatic leader who can really inspire the nation." No name dropping, no dog-whistles, no Fascist-fapping, just "Man, I wish we had a leader who could really get people motivated!"
There's quite a few of them, and you don't even need to name drop. If the reporter pressed them to name a person you could even add "You know it's been so long, noone I'd really connect with comes to mind!"
It's just sad how they've all gone down the "Might as well be as obvious about our Fascism-fapping as possible!"

Just, be kind.
And if they -do- want to drop names, it's not like there's a short list of folks perceived as popular orators who aren't facist fucking dickheads. Lincoln, Roosevelt JFK, MLK, the fake president from Independence day. Shit, they could've even had just said Raegan or fuckin' Thatcher if they wanted to go with someone explicitly right wing.
But no, motherfucking Hitler is where this dipshit's reptile brain went when he thought of a powerful, charismatic leader.
TBF, Hitler wasn't a bad dude.
But I'm actually talking this guy from Namibia and not that asshole dictator from Nazi Germany.
Putin khuliyo
I agree to a point. The problem becomes IMO, that dog-whistling at least means they know, on some level, that what they're doing is bad and if they're caught, they'll get in trouble.
When they just outright say it it means they know they're not going to get caught (either because people lack the means or the motivation) and they're not going to get in trouble. Because this means enough of the lay people think what they're saying is okay or have been sufficiently prevented from acting on it. Which more or less means they've already won.

I mean, they don't come much more "Hippy Dip Liberal" than JC.
Dude was anti-capitalist ("I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God"), anti- capital punihsment ("let he who is without sin throw the first stone.", “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”, ) pro-welfare (“Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn you not away”)
“The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply,” Stephen Covey.
Well yes, but don't tell republicans that.
And don't forget pro-taxation ("Render unto ceasar that which is ceasar's,".) He also instructed people to help others regardless of the potential ramifications on them and who the other person was (Parable of the good Samaritan,) advocated for the redistribution of wealth (loaves and fishes) and traveled around healing people for free.
Republicans have done this sort of mental gymnastics with Jesus where they think his teachings meant that they should set up a system where "people first and foremost need to help themselves get what they need" by removing things like government oversight, regulation, and taxation and then, eventually people would have the things Jesus prescribed... instead of, you know, just doing the things Jesus said to do directly. I wonder how many of them think that Jesus said the whole "teach a man to fish instead of giving him fish" thing... even though Jesus had a whole miracle where he went around just giving people fish.
Throughout all of this I'm quite disappointed in the liberal christian bodies for not jumping more on how awful people like Trump reflect on the teachings of Jesus in a far more vocal manner. Remove the veneer of "Jesus would've wanted me to vote republican because the democrats are godless satanist heathens" and that does a good deal towards eroding a chunk of the republican's otherwise unshakable voter base.
Suffice to say, however, you want your mindless applause from the evangelicals, just say something about Jesus and they'll clap. That this guy defaulted from that easy win to "Hitler" is, as others have noted... a pretty damn suspect choice.

Paladino is a known dumb sicko who ran for NY governor in 2010 and his campaign completely imploded in a Republican wave year after the story broke that he used company email to send stormfront memes and bestiality porn to his employees, but he was something of a big shot in Buffalo so he keeps popping up every couple of years like a relapsing cancer.
