Nice reality check for the PL this year.
What is this kinda bait?
Every english club knows just because the premier league is the most lucrative and competitive league doesnt mean you can just walk champions league where real madrid and barcelona/bayern can get the best players available on name alone because they generally bring silverware year in and out and then you can make your money from endorsements/brand/image deals and get a career at ESPN giving shit takes on football for the next 30 years after you cant run anymore
Eric dier. Kyle Walker going missing. Modric missing a penalty. Spurs DNA is sprinkled among the champions league.
Did you find it interesting seeing pochettino talk to dele alli recently? Ive never rated Poch. But I can see how he got a tune out of players. The smile he brought out in dele calling him a great footballer was like a father praising his son
Nothing but love for Poch and the Dele moment was pure class, especially addressed to a guy that could really use that kind of positivity too. There a lot of love for Dele at Spurs too, he was at a game recently and the fans are trying to have him back at the club in some role (pay as you play most recently discussed).
A mixed night for Spurs old boys for sure but Eric Dier just cemented himself in Spurs legends! That shit eating grin that wouldn't stay off his face and he definitely thought it was nice....

And more meaningless stats were created.
Eric Dier 5 years - 2 Champions league Semi-finals
Arsenal 137 years - 2 Champions League Semi - finals

And the reality is that the mighty Real Madrid parked the bus and hoped for the best (and I'm far from being a City fan). On a different day, they score two or three of those chances and it's game over. De Bruyne had it on his foot. Oh well, football.
But you have to laugh at Arsenal bottling it all again in clutch games. Wonder if they fall apart in the league now...
Maybe instead of slating other leagues, we can talk about how much improved Serie A is? Italian football was in a wilderness for a long time, it's good to see their big clubs making an impact again.
As someone who grew up in a time when Inter and Milan would regularly get to the semifinals at least, I do agree its nice to see the league on an upswing. And also nice to see Juventus kinda flopping around in the toilet for a bit. But Inter has been really great under Inzaghi (wouldn't mind him at Man Utd but doubt it would happen since apparently his english isnt great?) and Milan have also been doing well.
On one hand I get why people will talk about the PL looking poor and the english teams flopping this year but some of these fixtures were pretty rough. City got the 1 team capable of knocking them out (imo) in Real Madrid, just unlucky for them they got this matchup in the quarter and not a final. Arsenal might have been slightly favorites against Bayern but CL experience made the difference there. Dont think anyone expected West Ham to beat Leverkusen and Liverpool were unlucky to have their form dip at the time of playing a hungry Atalanta team.
Nah, you lot have been very generous with that title. Ever wondered why people from other countries have been so reluctant to join the discussion here? PL fans have worked hard for years to deserve every little bit of shit flinging and glee. That's a big part of football culture and now you're tasting your own medicine for once.

Oh yeah, because Italian or Spanish fans are such gentlemen xD
You have to be new in football if you think this year is especially rough for English teams. Or you simply like to rub it in? Yeah, all of them are out of European cups now, due to a mixture of bad luck or dips in form. Shit happens. There were years though when English teams weren't even in the conversation, and it wasn't so long ago.
