Dragonflight Alpha - Ohn'ahran Plains Questline Preview
Ohn'ahran Plains is the second zone that players get to experience in the Dragonflight expansion. In this post, we'll quickly go over the zone questline and highlight important events. Story Spoilers Below!

Into the Plains

• The storyline kicks off with Ambassador Taurasza of the Red Dragonflight asking you to meet with Merithra of the Dream in their ancestral gardens on behalf of Alexstrasza. To do so, we will first need to establish diplomatic relations with the Shikaar centaur tribe. She gives you a life bloom as a sign of good will to present to the centaurs.
• Scout Tomul is not impressed by the gift and tells you to prove your worth by helping in slaying a Blazing Proto-Dragon.
• After killing it, you are escorted to Timberstep Outpost to meet with Sansok Khan, the deaf leader and most skilled hunter of the Shikaar Clan. She informs you that the clan is preparing for the journey to the Khural, a gathering of all the clans across the plains. An emissary of the green dragons will be there, and she will let you join as long as you lend your aid to the clan first.
• Your first task is to introduce yourself to clan members while collecting supplies for the journey.

• The caravan is now ready to depart. On the way, the tribe explains to you that the different clans of the plains are all collectively called the Maruuk. There are several prominent clans:
  
  • Clan Teerai - Keeper of traditions
  • Clan Shikaar - The strongest hunters
  • Clan Nokhud - Recently come to power. Their current leader, Balakar, is the son of the former Khan, but lacks his father's patience or wisdom.
  • Clan Ohn'ir - Have a direct connection to the centaur avian goddess, Ohn'ahra, who guided them to the Dragon Isles in the past.
• You make a quick stop and are tasked with collecting game meat and dealing with a deadly predator named Konkhular.
• During the next part of the journey, you pass by a camp with a giant horn called the Horn of Drusahl, which was built to honor the friendship between Teera and Merithra that ended the hostilities between green dragons and centaur here long ago. The clan is interested to know what Khanam Matra, leader of all the clans, will think about their return after 1000 years.
• You stop at a nearby river to collect fowl feathers, a salamander heart, and some reeds for a ritual to summon the guidance of Ohn'ahra. The ritual shows a storm, and Ohn, a Clan Ohn'ir Seer, says that they must prepare as this is a grim omen.
• You arrive at Maruukai to find the other clans already there.

Maruukai

• You are then tasked with meeting up with the other clans individually.
• Clan Nokhud treats you with disrespect, and asks you to defeat 6 of their warriors in battle. Scout Tomul explains that they only value brute strength, and their clans do not see eye to eye on many things.
• Qariin Dotur of clan Teerai is much more welcoming. She requests help in cooking a meal for the ancestors.
• Clan Ohn'ir is worried about the omen that Ohn saw, and Tigari Khan wants you to collect some flowers to use as incense for a ritual to discover what is wrong with Ohn'ahra. They discover through another omen that a betrayal threatens the goddess herself.
• You return to Sansok Khan and she quizzes you on the different clans.

• Gemisath, the emissary of the green dragons, arrives. You tell him of your intention to restore the green dragon's oathstone, and he welcomes your help.
• Gemisath explains that most of the green dragonflight are gardeners and not fighters. They will need the help of the clans and you if they are to empower their Oathstone while defending it from Primalist attacks. Merithra hopes that the centaur will uphold her ancestor's pact.
• Gemisath is about to meet with Khanam Matra, and says you are welcome to join. At the meeting, Khanam Matra agrees to aid the green dragons. However, Balakar Khan of the Nokhud enters with Koroleth, his Primalist advisor, to protest. He attacks and kills Gemisath.
• You must help quell the uprising by taking our Clan Nokhud forces and then discuss how to proceed from here.

Ohn'ahra's Blessing

• Khanam Matra wants to declare war, and wants to blow the Horn of Drusahl, but she will need your help to receive Ohn'ahra's blessing. She asks you to deliver a message to Khansguard Jebotal at Teerakai.
• There, you are tasked with communicating with the townsfolk about the plans. You are then told that the mystics of the village have been sent away to Ridgewater Retreat, but an initiate named Boku is still in Teerakai. He should be able to commune with Ohn'ahra.
• You try to help the initiate contact Ohn'ahra, but he doubts himself and can't hear her. He suggests you seek out the other mystics and agrees to show you the way.
• When you arrive at the meeting point, you discover his belongings on the road. Apparently there was a scuffle and he took off pursued by several other centaurs.

• Further down the road you find the corpse of one of the attackers and are ambushed. You then find Boku safe and conversing with Tigari Khan.
• Reports indicate that these Nokhud attackers are being aided by outsiders wielding never-before-seen magic. You are tasked with rescuing a centaur named Altan from them while collecting Ridgewater Retreat Orders and bundles of totems.
• Altan is being held prisoner by a tauren named Shela the Windbinder. The plans she carries reveals that the Nokhud are collecting totems while the Primalists are capturing ohuna. You and Boku must head to Windsong Rise to search for Ohn'ahra.

• At Wingsong Rise, you must kill Stormbound forces while destroying their wagons and freeing children of Ohn'ahra.
• Boku and you then try to free the captive Ohn'ahra, but Koroleth knocks you both over the cliff edge with storm magic right before you succeed.
• Upon waking up, Boku tells you to return to Maruukai to inform Khanam Matra about what has happened. She is troubled by the news, but says we must not lose hope.

Bonds Renewed

• Scout Tomul arrives with a report. A warband of Nokhud are headed toward the Horn of Drusahl with Balakar leading himself. Matra thinks it might be a diversion, but decides to take you and some guards to stop them from destroying the horn and preventing the calling of the green dragons. Scout Tomul is sent to gather the other clans and continue the search for Koroleth and Ohn'ahra.
• You ride the wolf Taivan to the horn while Matra explains its importance. Ohn'ahra herself blessed the horn when it was made, and it has never been sounded since its creation. She hopes the green dragons will honor their pact and help once its used.
• You enter the village with Matra to defeat Nokhud forces and reclaim the horn. You then defeat Warmonger Kharad and discover that Balakar has brought Ohn'ahra to the horn and has set a trap for you.
• Balakar and Koroleth use Ohn'ahra's magic to blow the Horn of Drusahl. Merithra flies over with two other green dragons in response. The enemies use a ballista to fire a storm-infused bolt at Merithra. One of the dragons, Solethus, flies in front of her and takes the hit, plummeting to the ground. Koroleth and Balakar are whisked away by Ohn'ahra.

• You rush to the green dragons to find Solethus has died from his wounds. Merithra laments that they cannot lose any more.
• Matra explains what happened, and that three clans still honor their pact with the dragons. Merithra accepts their offer, and says the dragons will help fight to defeat clan Nokhud and the Primalists.
• You fly with Merithra back to the Emerald Gardens. She explains that the Primalists attacked shortly after they returned, and while they held them off for a time, the help of Clan Nokhud has allowed the Primalists to find a way to break their defenses. The barrier to the Ancient Bough must not fall as the portal to the Emerald Dream lies beyond it.
• Merithra has you gather up the green dragons, and then informs you that Khanam Matra and her forces have arrived. They have located Koroleth and her Primalists, who are gathering a massive force on the beach to the north. You must collect scout reports before meeting Merithra on the beach.

• At the Storm Scar, you use Ohn's eagle to scout the area. You discover that the Primalists have not only enhanced the Nokhud's abilities, but have also joined their ranks. They are using a massive portal to bring reinforcements. Your eagle is discovered and killed, and you speak with Merithra to find out that the pylons below are empowering Koroleth's destructive power. She means to destroy the pillar and the ward that protects the Ancient Bough.
• You sabotage the forces below by destroying ballistas and taking out the pylons. You then shut down the portal and finally defeat Koroleth.
• Merithra honors the clans that helped and you all meet at the Oathstone in the Ancient Bough. Each clan gives an offering and she uses them to empower it.

To be honest, this is the type of storytelling WoW needs to focus on. Just reading this, it feels like a great throwback to traversing the barrens and helping random people with different threats. Hopefully it actually holds up in gameplay.
