Forbidden Reach zone was cool then it wasn't

Last week with the release of the new zone Forbidden Reach, i was very excited to play it. Was cool something new was out, and new areas to explore and play around. last Tuesday was exciting to go there and do the questline, and get my i405 ring, and then killing a bunch of Rares for i385 gear and then the token to upgrade the gear to i395.

The rest of the week and weekend, I went there with all my alts, killing stuff, and getting tons of i385/i395 gear. But then Sunday it hit me, ok now what? I did the quest line here, I got majority of the i395 gear I wanted, and did the Vault area a bunch. What's next? What else is there to do here?

    - Why aren't there Flight Paths around Forbidden Reach? it's a pain in the butt flying around there due to the steep mountains, and my dragon always running out of vigor to fly around the zone easily.

    - See a Rare on the map, then get to that area, but the Rare's not there, but hidden down below or something. It can be difficult to find some Rare's because not easily noticeable or accessible.

    - What comes next for Forbidden Reach?

The zone did its purpose - provide you with access to the power system of the next patch in advance, so you can cap it out before the new patch comes. This will most likely be the new format for Dragonflight which is better than past expansions. Adding next patch's power system in the dead period of a current patch and allowing players to cap it out means you can focus on your primary activity next patch instead of grinding power.

I agree, the idea behind Forbidden Reach is a good one, and nice to have it before 10.1. But it feels so short, like I did it, and now I'm done one week later.

The games developers are simply out of touch now. I have a strong feeling wow is on maintenance mode and the fans just don't want to accept it.

New zones pretty as usual the art team kills it, every damn time.

    But the quests? Beyond dull.
The new characters? Beyond one dimensional.
Plot? Predictable isn't even the word, its the lowest tier of writing wow has ever had.

Yet we'll play, because it's what we do.

Wow is getting a more steady, constant flow of updates than ever before, and you walk away from that thinking that's maintenance mode?

The forbidden reach is a catch up area.
It's mostly for people who haven't hit max rep yet or are lagging behind on gear. For everyone who has, it's just a sandbox to play around in for a bit while we wait for the next patch. It's not meant to be revolutionary. I'm personally just aiming to get the meta achievement from it.

Man. Blizzard really did a damage with forcing the playerbase to do certain things of content to actually get to the rest of the content. Now we literally have more content than we've had in years when it comes to patch cycle and people are finding reasons to complain about content that they are not forced to do.

1: Flight points around an island that would have 0 benefit? You would almost never make it to any of the rares. Its pretty easy to keep and maintain enough vigor to go from rare to rare pretty quickly. If you are running out and missing rares, then that might be how you are using it.

2: There's not that many rares that have this issues. Maybe like 3 are an actual issue like the Warden way in the back of the cave. But I mean, it literally took me one day of running around killing the rares to learn and understand the zone and the rare spawns.

3: We will have to see if Blizz moves it forward. If I remember correctly, blizzard stated that this gear will be labeled as "season 1". So possibility the opportunity for players to go back and collect tier sets from previous raid.

What did you expect? a .1 patch level treatment? Again like I said, this is more content that we've got in a minor patch cycle than what we've ever had in retail. This patch is purely to catch up alts if thats your thing. Personally im having a blast. I almost have every classes tier sets done.

Literally a whole ass new zone in a midseason patch, with a much larger new zone coming in a couple months for the next season patch, and you're complaining about "maintenance mode?"

This is literally more content than they've ever put out at this stage of an expansion. I think you're the out of touch one.

It's a catch up zone with gear, mounts, toys, and pets.
It's not meant to be endgame unless the open world is your endgame.
The quests are fine, the story moved a little and introduced the next "big bad", and the zone itself serves as a place to do get rep, if you want, and gear alts, if you want, and collect pets and mounts, if you want, and get more achievements, if you want.
Nothing is stopping you from running M+ or raids or PVP or doing anything else you did prior to its release; it's just "another thing to do", again, if you want.

I'm logging in every day and killing all the rares to catch my warlock up, but after 3 dozen drops in still missing the headpiece
I've got whole sets of mail, leather and plate but that last cloth piece evades me
It's like we can never just get the vendor right out the gate it's always patched in after hundreds hours of frustration
Unf - Night Watch - Pagle

Consider the ocean waves, and how the moon's force guides them this way and that across the earth's surface. Human life is an insane coincidence. We are an instance of the universe becoming conscious of itself, yes, old news but always worth review.

Have you ever thought that the "yet we'll play because it's what we do" attitude is why you keep playing this game you clearly despise and apparently torture yourself mentally for?

Do you think everyone else is as clearly unhappy as you are?

It's full of spiders. We should burn it and quest somewhere else.

The zone does its purpose of making it easy for alts to catch up, good thing I waited with alts because of that. I can't say its fun to do all these rares who are mostly deep within caves and the moment you arrive they are probably dead by then.

The tiny island only exists to flesh out the ring.

  16. #16
It's an alt zone nothing more also .7 patch not a main patch

  17. #17
I don't do any instanced content, and I have a lot of alts, so the zone is nice for gearing up for me.

I agree that locating the rares can be frustrating at times, especially on our asthmatic mounts. Fortunately there aren't that many, and wowhead has the co-ords for them.

You are playing a themepark MMO...never forget.

Everyone hates and despises sandbox (for some weird reason) so dont come argue "content is over" if you so ADORE themapark MMO's.

Welcome to World of Warcraft lol - this game is boring as fuck nowadays.

This "tiny" island is also the size of a normal levelling zone from previous expansions.
