Wasted opportunities to showcase characters or races' badassery and skills

What are in your opinion the occasions and moments where the writers could have made a good use of one or several characters or one race in particular, and of said characters or races' abilities and skills and knowledge to deal with a particular situation or threat ?

As discussed a few weeks ago, Tauren never got to show off their ferocity in WoW, since Orcs and Trolls got stereotyped as the Horde warrior caste so Tauren got stereotyped as calm druids.

The Draenei never got to show off their 25,000 years of sci fi engineering skills outside of Talador and Argus. They should be competing with the Gnomes as the Alliance's go-to engineers but we only ever see the Alliance deploy Gnomish-made machines on a large scale.

The Draenei should be centuries ahead on science and tech.

Literally night elves: the race. One huge missed and the ON PURPOSE wasted and maligned opportunity. The whole fucken race. Its like when you look at the bread and its not moldy on the side, it was entirely overtaken by mold so badly that no bread is left.

i feel like we got 1 short glimpse in the bfa cinematic where the one tauren blasted through multiple lines of footmen but yeah overall quite unappreciated for the terror they would be on the battlefield.

Obviously the Ren'dorei in Patch 8.3, it's not even a contest.

In Patch 8.3, High King Anduin of the Alliance was looking for help in countering the Old God whispers, and he never thought of beseeching help from his allies, the Ren'dorei, who are the first mortals in the history of the Cosmos to successfully defy the Shadows' whispers. Anduin even knew, from the previous patch, that Alleria Windrunner was focused on containing the Old God, as she made her intention clear at a war meeting at Razor Hill; she was, in fact, the only leader in the entirety of Azeroth who understood that the Old God was a much greater threat than the faction war.

So actually Alleria and the Ren'dorei should have had much more focus and a much bigger role in 8.3. The Vision of Stormwind was an alternate scenario in which we see just how powerful they can be if they unleash their powers, as they are capable of bringing the entire Stormwind to its knees. But it was not sufficient.

So in reality Alleria and the Ren'dorei were ROBBED of spotlight that they were entitled to in Patch 8.3. They were not even mentioned. The only reason this happened is because Alleria and the Ren'dorei are not as popular amongst the fangirls as the Wranduin ship, which is why they got replaced by Wrathion, a coward who hid during the Legion invasion (which he caused btw).

You don't make yourself popular with the people when you suggest not to take down Sylvanas as she deserved it. And in the end no special power or army was needed. Just Magni and that giant azerite laser beam.

I mean any priest(ess) or paladin with enough power with the Light or a good enough warrior or hunter with a weapon blessed by the Light or Elune herself could have done the trick.

The opportunities of showing Night Elves' skills and knowledge of guérilla warfare and of their potential as rogues, spies and assassins have not been lacking. Yet Blizzard has never seemed to notice it.

Night Elves assassins would be a nightmare, almost impossible to detect and to protect yourself against. I remember the Moonshadow Elves of the Dragon Prince.

There are also a few more uses they could have done of the priestesses of Elune and druids' abilities.

I suspect the reason why the Night Elves got shafted is because they should stomp the Horde in Kalimdor, but Blizzard was made up of Horde fans so the Night Elves' strength had to be downplayed to keep up the appearance of Horde strength.

Not "stomp", they could have just settled for them being strong in their homeland and not that OP outside where they lack natural forests and etc. But noooo. Meanwhile Forsaken were made into that unstoppable road roller humiliating and defeating Alliance non stop with only on L in the end which was so pyrrhic it was even acknowledged by devs in the interview as "a defeat in victory" for the Alliance.

Again, the day Blizz allowed for horde fans to run the show it was doomed to end in Dragonflight. It was fucken foretold harder then Velen and Medivh together could master, it doomed the setting for the embarrassing state it is now AND for the "Peacecraft".

Sylvanas should have killed Genn when he tried to walk out. Like his back was turned towards her and she had a clear shot. One less toxic influence in the ears of Anduin.

Are we playing the same game? Last time I checked Alliance has forces in pretty much all core zones of the Horde both on Kalimdor(Durotar, Barrens and Azsahra) and the EK(Silverpine and Hillsbrad). That is literally explained in the exploring Azeroth books.

Finding counters to the Scourge's Plague and to the Forsaken's Blight could have been a great way to showcase the Gnomes' intelligence and skills in magic, alchemy and biology.

Blizzard could have perfectly have made the Gnomes find a cure to the Plague, and substances and machines to neutralize the Blight.
