    My issue with M+

Hey everyone, I have been playing WoW since launch and now I am close to my 40s years old.

Currently I am a casual player who does some heroic raiding with pugs and some M+ keys between 15 to 19 and sometimes 20.

Because of real life issues and work sometimes I have like one hour to play per day so during that one hour time I usually like to do one m+ because I enjoy them so much. My major issue is a scenario that been happening so many times now, where the grp are going smooth and the run is pretty good up until last boss. Then something wrong happen and people leave and the group disband.

What annoys me the most about this scenario that your time when you killed all previous bosses in the dungeon is fucking waste of time and you as a player did nothing at all because the end result was the group disbanded.

I would really love if Blizzard look into the issue and do something about it. I am not asking for a penalty because let us be honest sometimes you get a bad group and you have to leave. I would like from Blizzard to implement a system where each boss you kill in m+ reward you with the upgrade currency flightstones. At least that is something and you dont feel that your entire run is pointless and a waste of time if the group disbanded at the last boss of the dungeon.

99% of M+ problems go away if you play with friends.

To entertain your idea I'd say that introducing part rewards will make your problem even worse. Since then you get players in pugs who are content with these and don't care about ending the dungeon anyway. More groups will disband since who cares, got 3/4 of the rewards so why "waste" another 5 mins for someone elses key...

If Blizzard made bosses drop anything worthwhile, many people would just join pugs, get the amount of currency they currently required, and then bailed in the middle of the dungeon because they only wanted that bit of currency and don't care about finishing the dungeon.

Hardly a fix to your problem.

Joining a discord community that runs M+ should make it easier to get a group and add some level of accountability to people. That's really the best you can do.

Easy for you to say about friends. Most of my friends like 99% of them quit WoW and others who are still playing are not interested in m+ contents. So I am stuck with pugs for years now.

Playing with friends or guild members presents another very common issue where they are trash but now you can't even bail on the dungeon because you will piss them off, which wouldn't be a problem if they were just some randos you'd never see again.

That's why I never do M+ with guild members.

And why that is worse than leaving at the end of the dungeon and have zero thing to get and time wasted? I mean I get your point and indeed it will be annoying if that indeed happens but my question why that scenario is worse than what I descriped that is happening? (The leavers who leave at the end boss of the dungeon).

You are adding another problem to your already existing problem. If previously some people were leaving because they estimated that the dungeon is not going to be completed in time, now there will also be people leaving because they only needed some currency and don't care about completing the dungeon in time or otherwise.

Tbh saying "people leave because they estimate that the time is not enough to finish it" is giving them too much credit. There are a lot of people who leave randomly even if the timer is good and I am not talking about dc connection issues or anything like that no, they actually leave randomly and it was happening a lot specially from tanks.

Tanks and healers are the most stressed out roles in a dungeon group. When shit hits the fan, or the run is not fun at all, they feel it the hardest, while the dps just sits back and often even gives them sass.

It's common for tanks and healers to hit their personal enrage timers ahead of anyone else and then bail.

I think they could give players more rewards for completing depleted keys but I don't think this would be the best way to do it. If there's a dungeon with a boss early on then people will just farm it endlessly for flightstones which is degenerate gameplay Blizzard probably doesn't want.

Add people you successfully PuG with as Bnet friends.

No one says you have to play wiht RL friends.
Look for a M+ guild/community an there you go. That is it.
You don't need fixxed times you don't have any responsibilities. Just a pool of players who don't quit because you play more than once together and are in a group together.
I NEVER had anyone leave without talking it through first with the group if we ran into a wall. NEVER.

If you only pug in 100% anonymity it is your choice. But you have to live with the consequences of human nature.
Giving rewards for half completeted runs will just result in waaaaaaaay more people leaving.

I think degenerate playstyle with getting something worth your time is better than getting nothing other than time wasting with nothing at all.

I don't know which keys you're doing but the number of keys that I get into where the group disbands instead of completing is extremely low. I'm only doing 17-20s though. I pushed to high 20s in S4 and even then there weren't a whole lot of disbands. /shrug

There are communities, guilds and discord communities that mainly do M+ as their form of content. With the loss of anonymity through using a community, chances that people just give up on your group are extremely small.

Yeah...that's not an actual thing that happens. People are extremely anti-social. I wouldn't do that nor expect anyone else to do it with me.

This doesn't work. People only group up with other people they know, as well as with people with unholy scores. Joining a M+ guild or community as someone without unholy scores is absolutely useless because everyone will just ignore you and prefer to use the group finder if they have open spots.

There are many solutions to OP's problem, here's a few :

    - The least time consuming would be writing something like "+17 Completion Run" or "+17 No Leavers" as your dungeon's note, makes people a lot less susceptible to leave
    - Joining a Discord community IS a good idea, either Chill Streak / No Pressure if EU or WoWMadeEasy if NA, by joining people agree to not leave mid-dungeon and not be toxic towards each other so chances of people leaving mid-key are pretty non-existent

Add people you successfully PuG with as Bnet friends.

Yes it is, playing tank in S1 a lot of people asked to add me as friend at the end of a successful run, most of them were skilled and chill, some weren't but then again you can always sort your friend list every now and then to remove people you didn't have a good experience with.

None of these solutions is perfect but they will drastically reduce the chances of people leaving during the dungeon. Then again it remained a rare occurrence to me at least in S1 even in 22-23 keys, might be a NA problem if you're US or maybe an elo problem since people generally agree that the 15-19 range is where you find the most toxic players.

You know what's funny, when someone has an issue and everyone else tells him no, no, that's not an issue because MY experience is different.

Yeah I don't have this issue because I play with friends. We spent in 1,5 hrs in Neltharus because Blizz bugged the last boss and it kept doing fire on the floor while being stunned and only fixed it next reset. But that doesn't mean the OP's problem is solved:
    * to have friends you run with you have to have a high availabilty or match schedules, either way you have to spend time with them ingame or irl
    * adding ppl to your friend list needs constant updates; someone you added while doing a 15 may not progress much after that and be behind in gear for a 20; they may not be available at the same time and it was a fluke; the run was awesome because you had a good grp but the next run with them the added friend might leave midway because something doesnt sit well with them (don't think ppl added to your list will never drop your grp)
    * some ppl spend 45 mins making the ideal pug checking everything so they have much better pug experiences while others join whatever grps they can get in that can be good or bad; so experience in regards of how many ppl drop grps may be low for some, high for others

Point is, op has an issue. Let's try to find solutions assuming his issue is real for him, not that we can prove he doesn't have an issue to begin with.
