    Opinion on Budget PC

    Hi friends,
Im building my wife a budget pc, Its use is mainly for running games on 1080p and browsing the web, nothing fancy.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this build and If you think i can improve it in any way while staying near my budget.

    The build is:

    AMD Ryzen 5 5500
Coolermaster Hyper 212 for the CPU
    Asus Prime B450M-A
    Corsair DDR 4 16GB 2x8 3600CL18
    Samsung SSD 500GB 970 Evo m.2
    2TB HDD Seagate Barracuda
    Corsair 650W PSU 80+ bronze
Gigabyte RTX 3050 N3050 Eagle OC

This build will cost me around 860$ which is my budget, thoughts?

Looks ok for a budget build. Couple thoughts:

Ryzen 5 5500 is a 65W cpu, the stock cooler should be all you need. Search for a couple videos on youtube how to setup fan curves, you can get it quiet enough.

If you buy a RTX 3050 doublecheck to make sure you get the older 8GB version and not the 6GB card that came out last month. The latter should really be called 3030. A Radeon 6600 XT should do about the same as an RTX 3050 for a lower price.

Don't get her an HDD. Yeah it is cheaper but... just don't. Slow and noisy. Maybe use the money saved by not getting a cooler and buy an SSD.

There's a lot aboutt his that's not great.

The 5500 is quite a bit weaker than a 5600 - its about the same as a much older 3600.

The RTX 3050 was never a good card. You can get a much better AMD card for the same or cheaper, or even an Intel card that will beat the snot out of it.

There's little reason to wste money on a samsung NVMe drive.

As Twdft mentioned, there's no reason to get an aftermarket cooler.

Lets see what we can do:

Thank you very much for the reply!
I forgot that my sister in law works at intel so my build has changed due to her getting us some of the gear with a discount,
    My updated build is

    Intel® Core™ i3 processor 14100
    MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4 LGA1700
    G.Skill Ripjaws V 2x8GB 3200Mhz DDR4 CL16
    Intel Arc750 8gb
    Kingston NV2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB SSD
    Corsair 4000D Airflow
    Corsair CX650 650W 80 PLUS Bronze ATX 12cm Fan

And I managed to get that under my 860$ budget
    Does it seem ok?

What is the use for the computer? If it is for gaming you better with a 6 core cpu like a I5.

I'm running a 13100f, its almost identical to the 14100 you want to buy (the 14100 has higher clocks) its a good cpu for internet stuf like streaming, its good for light gamming like Fortnite might even run some of the modern games but a 4 core cpu is in no position to run the next years games, you should consider a 6 core cpu for gaming.

The PC is for my wife she is hardly a gamer, mostly plays l league of legends, I also checked benchmarks comparing the i3 14100 to the i5 14400 and it was pretty similar if I'm not mistaken, nevertheless, do you think its worth the upgrade?

Its just the margin for new games isn't very good. 4 core cpu's are becoming outdated very fast as the new games suport more cores. But can always try getting a refurbished i5 later.

I got my i3 13100f as i barely game, just internet surfing, and loads of streaming, it fitted me, and it does what i want, but i rarely recomend an i3 these days. I still think a 14400 would be a better investment for the next years.

I'm not exactly sure what you want to go for in terms of performance, and not exactly sure on how much of a discount you can get on the 14100($139) or a750 ($200), but the build you've listed is under $700. I have it priced at $688 on pcpartpicker, but that $180 difference could lend to much more performance. Especially toward a much better gpu. I like Kagthul's 5600/6800 build much better for the budget.

    Thanks for the answer,
I probably should have clarified it more accurately - the PC is for my wife who Is mostly a basic level user i.e Browsing the web and playing games like LoL, I hardly think she will see the difference between Medium setting to High on the next-gen games, also she has a regular 60hz1080p monitor, so I knew that building her a PC I would go for something more standard and budget friendly
P.s I got the CPU for half price at 72$ and the GPU for 150$, for the money I think its worth it
