With wow's gameplay, it's ok how dodging etc works - but for AoC, if it's balanced in some way, I'm looking forward to the battles. No more rolling for dodges - sounds great to me!Originally Posted by Crimsonak
From what you explain I made the conclusion that with all the moves accessable to you + manualy doing them + pro's being a lot of health/armor/etc.... Battles will be like 20 mins, and all we'll see is 2 swinging axes at one another.Originally Posted by Tearor

I'd stay with the boring "old, easy" extremely fastpaced WoW PVP.
There are a lot of awesome PvP aspects to the game and from what I keep hearing from people on Beta is that PvP dominates Wow's. As for PvE I hear very little and would love to hear some about that.
As for the violence and nudity...meh. I think is that AoC is really aiming for overall realism and this wasn't some gimic as people seem to believe. Please, if you play an MMO you have access to porn, I doubt they'd use nudity as a gimic. They are just going for realism.
You're sounding just as obnoxious as the posts you're mocking. You're saying a game sucks before even experiencing it. As for the company's support, that's why people pre-order, so the company can prep for what they believe to be the number of people they can support. Also, wow was buggy as all get out when it was released, didn't stop people from playing then.Originally Posted by overneathe
I'm not saying AoC will kill WoW, the fanbase is too high. But it will pull a significant portion of WoWs playerbase.
You made a conclusion on somebody's explaination rather than experience. Great deductive reasoning there. From what I keep hearing from people on Beta who play both WoW and AoC is that PvP in AoC smokes WoW. Once again...how's the PvE.Originally Posted by overneathe

Well first of all, about them preorders. I don't think you saw the real thing I was trying to say. The enviroment ran by a couple hundred thousand people. Do you think it is possible? You don't even come close to assuming it could happen like what happened to LoTR? Lagggg. Not because of lag of servers - but them "lushes". People say they're fed up with WoW's bright colors and fairy creatures. Well what happened to Vanguard and LoTR? EQ 2 even?
There are enough movies for me to see sweaty men with tin foils around them swinging heavy axes. I prefer bright fairy colors - describes things in a much more imaginative way.
And ye I like Tanaris more then I like Sahara. :]
Further more. WoW was released 2004, and was started 2000-2001. It did have TONS of problems at start. But hey! Who would've expected it to be the number one selling MMO in the world? And they also used an engine that could be driven by a PC from the times they started developing it (2001! That's 1.2Ghz processors right there! Not anymore ofc.)
It currently has the best support and maintanence from all MMOs so I feel good about that.
And for last. No I didn't I got my conclusions from what I saw on their site, mmorpg.com and all these comments explaining how the fights are driven. It does sound to me exactly like what I explained up. :]
Seriously man, no offence, I'd never leave WoW but I'd try other games. For AoC I personally like the mounts ideas! Sounds very nice actually. But current RPGs and MMORPGs are written by some reeeeally nerdy RPG old gamers (like WARs guys) and I don't like that at all. They often say they know best what's gonna happen with their's/their opponent's game. And they always seem to fail. Blizz makes games to be fun tho. And if that means leveling a cow wearing shoulders the size of a human wielding an axe the size of 2 more - then so be it. :]
@soggar "Months" is ussualy becouse of the ISPs that Blizz use in select locations. They can't really do anything about it but poke the ISP to stop scratchin it's arse. :/
Oh and you know very well Blizz does almost nothing for us Europeans. But hey... who does...

So 500k players online in the first month would put probly put it as the #3-4 mmorpg today (Lineage 2 with around 1million players was the #2 mmorpg last time i saw a chart). If AoC gets and maintain around 250k subscriptions for a year it's already a financial success.
I will try to check AoC when it comes out but i dont have any high expectations for it. But anyway, the first month of any mmorpg is always the best to play even if the game sucks (as long as you find the insanely imbalance class to start with :P ).
Check your numbers again. If it doesn't get at least 500,000 in 3 months then it's never going even close to WoW. And we were talking about a WoW killer here.Originally Posted by Bramickias
Noone is talking about a WoW killer when talking about AoC, even thinking it will affect the WoW fanbase enough to be noticeable is stretching it. Nothing can "kill" WoW but Blizzard itself.Originally Posted by overneathe
People are wondering if:
a) it will be lag free/bug free enough at launch to be playable.
b) who will be playing it.
c) who likes the game artistic looks.
And lastly, d) will the gameplay be fun enough to keep the players entertained.
Ok then >.>Originally Posted by Bramickias
Here's my opinion
a) no
b) possibly more then 350 000 at it's best
c) well a lot of people of course, some guys have been looking for such a realistic game for ages
d) I'd say "yes" actually but it won't be the drug that WoW is. I'm still wondering if that's a good thing or bad...
Ok I have to 3 cheers for overneathe on that one. Not sure If I like the "realistic" look to games though.

When WoW arrived, the first batch of players were warcraft/blizzard fans (that was a lot of players) and it evolved from there. Same with UO or SWG or FFXI and EQ2 attracted EQ fans. But who's the target of AoC? The Conan franchise cant be big enough to be worth a MMO by itself, or is it?
Oh, well, must've slipped my eye there >.>Originally Posted by Bramickias
For "who" I'd say older RP type of players. These games seem a bit more serious and boring for children/teens. They need something constantly happening. And they like colours. :]
Also... but really depending on the gameplay even tho the info right now is really short... Evergrind fans. These strongholds controled by - as a mate here said - megaguilds. Megaguilds = Everquest. :]
i think the game turns out to try to be so real, that it fails at a certain moment. ofc it aint the final version of the game, i mean, what we've been watching from videos, but, movements seem a bit sucky sucky... and... what about the story behind it ? someone knows something about AoC's lore ?
i'll give it a try anyways, but i dont think i'll be spending so much time as in wow...in fact, this might be another lotr fail, where some friends of me grew tired of it after 1 or 2 weeks.
AoC and warhammer seem to be at the same level of hype, wether if its diserved or not, we'll see in the end... Wotlk will come at it's best and its not going down without a good fight :P

if it turns out like that it's gonna be boring^^ just wanted to point out that manually dodging etc "could" rock. in comparison to having the cpu roll about it.
I'm looking forward to a game (don't think aoc has that), where, e.g., i can slow down an opponent by cutting his hamstring. and i don't mean executing an ability whose tooltip says "slows down...", i mean hitting his leg with my sword and thusly slicing his string. if you know what i mean. but i guess we're still far from that.
Isn't that what hamstring implies? :OOriginally Posted by Tearor
I'm your maker, not thy saviour.
But you don't see the string stickin out of his leg in WoW! :OOriginally Posted by Trollpatrol
