I'm not just talking about the meters, a resto druid is the only healer that can effectively and efficiently heal at least 15 people through aoe damage while other healers can usually manage to do up to 5 or 6.

Well you could compare that to healing a Tank as a Paladin and it doesn't come close.

True, no class comes close to a pally when it comes to tank healing especially in fights with more than 1 tank used. But the point here is that each class has specific roles and utility that they bring to the raid and that some classes may be able to fill that role better than others. For example, paladins are not the greatest at AOE DPS or AOE healing, but they are competitive single target dps, with lots of raid utility and they are one of the best single or duo target healers in the game.
Blizzard is continually trying to homogenize all classes by giving them additional abilities that are the same as or similar to what another class has. >

And to note, for anyone who hasn't realized it yet, Ret's place is to present easy kills for experienced PvPers of any other class. Any time you step OUTSIDE of that crucial role, you will be dealt with swiftly.

We excel at AoE DPS on the terms of being a Melee class.

Concecrate sucks compared to all the AoE that DKs have as well as FoK/kitty swipe, I guess we're on par with warriors on aoe dps, if seal of command is being used. But the point here is that paladin aoe is limited to 3 targets because of seal of command and divine storm. DK and rogue AOE is not limited to a certain amount of targets.

DK AoE is ridiculous due to their AoE(s) hitting unlimited targets: The same goes with Feral druids and Rogue's FoK. Expect it to be even across the board when D&D, Swipe, FoK, and Consecration are all fixed in the AE effect nerf come 4.0.
