Can anyone recommend some good atmospheric black metal albums?

Oh, also I prefer Cynic's demos to Focus. I don't dislike Focus or anything (It's actually in my top 20 albums ever.) I just don't like the vocoder they use. Their 1991 demo is absolutely amazing though.

OK - Listened to some of those dimmu borgir burgir whatever you spell it, and I KINDA liked some of those.

But I'd like to ask some links to some really dark Black Metal. No reason not to check it out.

Yes, Varg Vikernes of Burzum murdered Euronymous (Øystein Aarseth) of Mayhem in 1993, a crime for which Vikerners was imprisoned for 16 years, he was released in 2009 on parole.

The bands Duilliath are a good representation of what black metal is today. If you don't like them, I suggest you wait a year/a few months and try again. Black metal that can be hard to get into for some people, it really depends on what you actually like in the metal genre.

I wanted to reply to this post earlier but I ended up watching the shity game between Germany and France (I ended up getting drunk and watching Mad Men on ZDF info instead ) what a boring match...

No, I like Fas, Ite a bit more. Kenose is my overall favorite though.
