Old world recipe's in Cataclysm?

Hey everyone.

I'm somewhat of a completist and I was wondering.. what happens to the old world recipe's when cataclysm gets released?

I'm mostly thinking about the recipes that drop in AQ and MC. Will they just get removed from the game, or will the recipes get moved to a vendor somewhere? Does anyone know?

I think they haven't said anything yet. I personally miss only a few enchanting formulas. Like Healing Power, Lesser block etc. I hope they won't remove them from the game (not very likely anyway)

Ex. The Crusader formula - The plaguelands will be completely revamped. They will probably just add the Recipe to some other mob's loot.

Blizzard have stated that most of the raid content should remain very much as it is unless there are lore reasons to change it.
Then again it is not the first time a specific boss can be present in two different locations, like the blood princes in ICC.
At least from vanilla I am only missing the world drops such as the example of the lesser block, but being a world drop based on level of mobs I cannot see that likely to change much.

Deathwing messes up Azeroth in current time, not in future or past, so no phasing required.

They have removed old world things from the game many times already. They can and will if they feel the need too. Example, all the Old Naxx 40 stuff, and the staff of Medivh, which is the only legendary to be removed from the game. Wasn't talked about till it happeend either if I recall.

You'll just have to wait an see what Blizzard says. Anyone here saying anything is just guesses.

considering it's all phased...can't you see the old world, too?

Phasing will be used for smaller environmental changes on top of the global devastation/changes that have already occured at the time Cata gets released. Stuff like shorelines moving further inland, construction of faction base camps, etc. After Cataclysm goes live, even if you only have the vanilla version of WoW and a brand new account, you will still see the changes to Azeroth. You won't be able to enter zones that are being added by the Xpack and you don't get a choice about the zones that are already here being changed or not.

As far as the old-school recipes that may be lost, it has happened before so I would say go grab what you can while you can ^^;; (There was an armor set-piece leatherworking pattern that dropped from the mobs associated with the opening of AQ gates that is no longer available because the mobs are no longer available to kill. It wasn't exactly great armor, so most players don't care, but there is precedent for Blizz to just let them go p0oF >_< )

I was thinking the same for Recipe: Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops, the one you obtain from the AQ questline. I think they will just remove them like they have done in the past 'cause it's not like OMG THE RECIPE IS GONE WHAT AM IN GONA DO NOW!!!...

I reallly need to finish that questline and grab the Chops before I lose the chance to >.<;; Just cuz it's the only epic cooking recipe in the game and one of the ~10 recipes I'm currently missing (all the rest are holiday recipes that I missed last year.)

I'm missing Biznicks scope from Molten Core and X44 Quadblow Goggles from SWP and thats it.

I assume that MC is being revamped as Raggy is being brought 'back into the fold'

My understanding from Blizz is that old raids are going to remain mostly untouched, and new raids will be layered on top.. There is no continuity problem if you look at a newly made lvl1 toon as a fresh player who knows nothing of lore.. There is no conflict in Ragnaros being in MC @ lvl60 when he is also in Hyjal trying to burn the world tree down @ lvl85 as long as you view the toon's lvl as a passage of time. I think this is kinda how Blizz has explained stuff like this in the past at least. ^^;;

I'm pretty sure the only old world recipes that we MAY lose are those that are world drops from mob types that go extinct in the Cataclysm.

Ragnaros will appear in Hyjal not a revamped MC, which will stay as it is. The plans will probably stay, no reason to remove them.

This is not absolutely true, nor confirmed that it will be true in this case. There IS precedent for recipes to go extinct along with the mobs that drop them (as mentioned in my previous post, there was a case where the only mob that dropped the pattern was removed which effectively removed the pattern as well.)
