And I'm not just saying that because I was angry about how the 3rd book ended. Roth really just did an awful job with it, from start to finish.
I do agree. The last book just repeated the happenings of the previous one in a different location. It wasn't interesting and the characters were completely unsympathetic. Seems to me like Roth had no idea what the "divergent" actually were until she started writing the third one.

They have planned it as a trilogy yes, and the first one has done well, so it's unlikely that they won't continue.

    Thanks for the chuckle!

    Anchorman 2: 6.5/10

Some funny moments, but everything was copy pasta off the original.

I'm definitely interested in seeing Captain America now; I thought the first one was trash but perhaps this one is better.

I'm not really big on superhero movies but it seems this current Captain America has been universally praised, I might have to go see it.

    Noah - 6.5/10

It's ok, nothing special. A bit long-winded imo, though, 2.5 hours was a bit too much for all that. Also, kinda like the Bible, it has a lot of plot holes. The whole thing could be summarized as ''You are the weakest link. Goodbye.''.

    Captain America: The Winter Soldier

    9/10

Loved it! Thought it was an interesting change of pace in tone from the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

    Snowpiercer: 8/10

A movie that deserves way more attention than it actually got. One of the best dystopian movies I've seen.

Wolf of Wall Street: 5 / 10. It's saved by some good acting, but gets demerits for being way way waaaaay longer than it needs to be (pointlessly so), and simply having a rushed letdown of an ending.

    13 Sins - 8/10

Was expecting a lot worse. Liked the twists in it.

Had a little mini-movie marathon the other night.

    Super: 8/10
    - Great black comedy about a (probably) schizophrenic, depressed middle-aged man who decides to become a super hero after his wife leaves him, resulting in him donning a costume and commiting acts of ultraviolence against people who violate his code (drug dealers, pedophiles, people who cut in line, people who maybe keyed a car, etc.). Extremely brutal -- original Robocop level of violence -- and really funny, if you're into dark humor.

    Kick-Ass: 7/10
    - A somewhat pulpier approach to the "realistic super hero" trope, giving it a really different vibe from the previous film. It has some really great action sequences and decent performances from some young actors, but I didn't find it particularily memorable otherwise, particularily when screened side-by-side with Super.

    God Bless America: 8/10
    - Another black comedy, and a commentary on modern mass media in America. A middle-aged man (Joel Murray) goes on a killing spree, targeting reality show stars, political commentators, and homophobic protesters. Excellently directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, I'd have given it higher marks if I felt the relationship between the lead character and the teenage girl / surrogate daughter he takes along with him didn't seem a bit overly sentimental and unrealistic, given the darkness and believability of the rest of the subject matter.

    In Bruges: 8/10
    - Yet another dark comedy, I don't really know what to say about it except that I really enjoyed it. Two hitmen hideout in Bruges, Belgium after a hit goes wrong, and the whole film plays out almost like an extended Mexican standoff, as the characters see the sights of the city while, engaging in occasional drinking, prostitution, drug use, romance, and philosphical conversation.

    The Darjeeling Limited: 9/10
    - Probably my second favorite Wes Anderson movie, behind Rushmore and just ahead of Moonrise Kingdom. A small cast of well-written, relatable brothers, excellent direction, great music, and beautiful scenery. Essentially a road movie on a train, the plot meanders through India as a trio of brothers reconnect, reconcile, and seek spiritual enlightenment.

    The Royal Tenenbaums: 6/10
    - And now my least favorite Wes Anderson movie. Wes Anderson's whole bag of tricks is on display here, but I found many of the characters unlikeable and uninteresting. It touches on some of the same themes as his other films, but I felt the plot was less effective overall.

    Napoleon Dynamite: 5/10
    - I haven't seen this in years, and just felt like watching a quirky comedy after the Wes Anderson stuff. It's decent, but I think I've outgrown its particular sense of humor, which relies too heavily on Napoleon's mannerisms and catch phrases. After watching the previous two movies, it was also really easy to see how the director tried to immitate several of Wes Anderson's techniques.

Oculus - 7/10. If was... interesting enough. There was a boring stretch in the middle, but it kept my attention. A guy got kicked out for using his smart phone for like 5 seconds lol that was the highlight.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier: 9/10

Solid movie. I liked its shot out to current hot topic political issues. I liked the character development all around (especially with Black Widow). They also really stepped up the Caps fight scenes. Demonstrated perfectly why hes considered a super soldier. I personally enjoyed it more than Thor II and Iron Man III

So wanna watch the new Captain. But don't wanna spend any money on cinema currently ...

Watched "Pocahontas" (1995) just about 20min ago. Not my favorite Disney-flick (would be a tie between "Brave" and "Princess and the Frog"), but I enjoyed it, liked the animation (esp. P moving like a panther), am a sucker for Indian myths and it had a large number of satisfying songs, compared to Frozen, where I only really liked Let It Go. I just can't take all those comic relief characters, P really had like, 4 of them.

(edit: Well, Brave also had a big number of comic relief ch's but maybe they just weren't as in-your-face, dunno)

    Man of Steel: 8/10

I thought it was pretty good, even though I knew the flaws of it while watching it. Was better than I expected.

The only thing I'm dreading is the sequel. Marvel is pretty much the studio they should be watching in setting up a multiple hero movie but they're not and I feel they're just going to jam in as many people as possible and hope for the best. Shame.
