the saddest, most emotionally powerful quests in wow?

Just wondered if any of you guys could recall any of the most saddest, or emotionally powerful/moving quests in wow that you have done. I was doing a quest the other day on an alt in BC shadowmoon valley and a particular quest i cant remember the name of really hit me in an emotional spot. Imo there needs to be more of these sort of quest chains instead go out and kill x monsters and bring back x hides

Any new ones in cata anyone has run into that are worth mentioning?

One of my favorites (and the one you may be refering to) was The Cipher of Damnation questline. I kept one of the rewards because the flavor text was so compelling to me.

The old one in Darkshore where you needed to kill the guys wife then there's a little cutscene up at auberdine, truly one of the saddest ones in WoW

Edit: By cutscene I mean Dialogue :P

Eastern Plaguelands before the Cataclysm was really good for this. Especially the few Darrowshire quests. It's cool to see them expand on them a bit now, but it's not the same. The rest of the zone feels kind of campy, so the quests with the dead girl aren't the same.

I know the one you mean, and yeah, of all the quests I did, I think it was the saddest... when the night elf husband cried over the ghost of his wife... very moving.

The one where i had to kill 10 boars. So powerful I don't see how any other quest could compare. I find the best quests resonate in a manner so powerful that you dont even need to read the text, and killing 10 boars really showed what blizz are capable of when it comes to narrative driven lore developement through quests.

Killing 15 murlocs was a close 2nd though.

    Unhappy

The new quests in darkshore, where all the moonchickens have been wiped out, and there's only one left who's sad and lonely. Poor thing.
Didn't feel the amount of /hug was enough.

Has to be the one in the old Tauren starting zone where you find and feed the young tauren's dog.

Ever wonder why that tauren has a unique voice? It's because he was voiced by a child who was dying of cancer, irl.

Always sent shivers up my spine to hear the voice of a dead child.
