It's a mistake.
I will test AOE tonight, but as of right now my guess is that AOE does not count as a periodic effect. Mind Sear for sure does not proc it.
as youre data is going to be used in 5m settings aswell i just think it where "funny" not to mention it at all while having holy paladins in there,
personaly i use it most on a resto druid or shaman in raids. and rogues whith 10% crit, and its not that uncomon for disc priests not to use renew
I found a small glitch where you put it on the felgaurd mount up enter a raid the putting it on a spriest so the priest and my pet both get the buff amd can get up to three stacks each which for the pet is nice with his bro storm
Good to know, thanks

Ah, this better explains your intent. I'm sorry if I came off rudely, I want to make sure that people are not skipping the raid for the benefit of themselves. I will see what I can do.

MASSIVE UPDATES:
1) Much more precise calculations, including a higher damage gain from the warlock
2) I was incorrectly calculating the uptime for players with low numbers of ticks (Unholy DKs), this has been resolved.
3) Warriors removed due to pathetic dps gains.
4) Text fixes based on feedback from people here.
Rankings basically unchanged.
Thank you very much for this! I've been wondering who was best to use Dark Intent on, then stumbled upon this lol great guide
Last night I had Dark Intent on myself and pet -was solo- and changed spec, I found that I had the haste and 9% extra dmg on me and a extra Dark Intent to cast!
It takes the game a while to recognize and adjust this. I actually clicked it off so the haste buff was gone but the x3 stacks persisted. I even logged out and back again and the x3 buff persisted.
This is a clear bug, but for those looking for every edge, before you pull that boss port and respec with Dark Intent up and return to the raid, put DI on whoever you want and keep the extra damage.
Did these calculations take into account the gains from buffing a hunter?

Death Knight (DPS)
Holy Paladin
Shadow Priest
I know simcraft suports DI but its there a way to tell Simcraft to simulate a lets say a Shadowpriest with DI buff and 100% uptime.
Thanks
There is a way you can do it yourself with any profile you run. Below is an example of figuring out a Shadow Priests DPS gain with 100% uptime of Dark Intent and in 372 BIS gear:
Simcraft results with and without the added 3% haste:
24510 DPS with 3% Dark Intent Haste
23914 DPS without 3% Dark Intent Haste
596 DPS gain from haste component*
*Gained by discovering the haste rating needed for 3% more haste:
(128.5701 rating for 1% haste @ 85) x 3 = additional 386 haste needed for 3% haste
I then added 386 haste rating to a piece of gear to give me an additional 3% haste to run the sim
Breaking down the DOT damage:
24510 * 74.4% = 18970.74*
18970.74 * 1.09 = 20678.1066
20678.1066 - 18970.74 = 1707.366
1707.366 DPS gained from DOT effect
*74.4% of damage from DOTs as per simcraft calculations
This also assumes 100% up time of the buff on myself
1707.366 + 596 = 2303.3667 total DPS gain from Dark Intent
2303.3667 DPS gain /23914 original DPS without Dark Intent = 9.6% DPS gain overall
Thanks for the math and explanation, I was wondering more about a line you could put into the simcraft config to simulate that using DI haste and dot buffs.
Awesome, thanks for posting this.
I was getting tired of asking - "Who wants my Dark Intent?"
(Although hearing them fight over it was fun.)
I got some report of a SP in my guild saying he's getting stacks both from his dots, and from the crit ticks of vampiric touch which count as crit heals somehow, giving him 18% instead of 9%. Probably worth investigating further.
Hello
I know when there are warlocks you should not swap DI.
But is it also wrong to have 2 warlocks using DI on the same person lets say the shadowpriest in your raid?
sorry if this already answered couldn,t find it
Dotti
The heal from Vampiric Embrace cannot crit. You will receive a larger self-heal based on a DOT's higher damage on a critical strike, but the heal itself is not a crit. This should disprove the idea that Vampiric Embrace has been proccing Dark Intent by Shadow Priests.
Vampiric Touch isnt Vampiric Embrace tho :P
Looked at some logs of a few days ago, it seems there's 3 types of DI procs, with different spell ids.
http://db.mmo-champion.com/s/94310/dark-intent/ (94310) is the stacking buff the warlock himself gets when someone he got DI on crits with their dots (Duús and Zharkoon are the 2 warlocks in the raid I looked at).
http://db.mmo-champion.com/s/94318/dark-intent/ (94318) is the stacking buff the target of the DI gets when the warlock crits (boomkin in this case):Code:[19:08:55.198] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent from Zharkoon [19:08:55.997] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent (2) from Zharkoon [19:08:57.587] Duús gains Dark Intent from Duús [19:08:57.587] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent (3) from Zharkoon [19:08:57.632] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:08:58.042] Duús gains Dark Intent (2) from Duús [19:09:00.409] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:00.804] Duús gains Dark Intent (3) from Duús [19:09:02.411] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:04.012] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:04.822] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:04.822] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:05.230] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:05.622] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:06.432] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:06.432] Zharkoon's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:07.252] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:07.636] Duús's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús
Then there's http://db.mmo-champion.com/s/94311/dark-intent/ (94311):Code:[19:08:55.198] Mephz gains Dark Intent from Duús [19:08:55.581] Mephz gains Dark Intent (2) from Duús [19:08:55.964] Mephz gains Dark Intent (3) from Duús [19:08:57.587] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:08:58.042] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:08:59.207] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:00.036] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:00.409] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:01.611] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:04.012] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:04.822] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:06.432] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:07.252] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:08.056] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:08.832] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:10.043] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús [19:09:10.413] Mephz's Dark Intent is refreshed by Duús
As you can see for some reason both the warlock and the shadowpriest (Ekkyo) get stacks of these for a while...Code:[19:08:53.989] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent from Zharkoon [19:08:54.359] Ekkyo gains Dark Intent from Zharkoon [19:08:54.433] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent (2) from Zharkoon [19:08:54.808] Ekkyo gains Dark Intent (2) from Zharkoon [19:08:55.588] Zharkoon gains Dark Intent (3) from Zharkoon [19:08:55.997] Ekkyo gains Dark Intent (3) from Zharkoon [19:08:57.195] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:08:57.632] Zharkoon's Dark Intent fades from Zharkoon [19:08:58.042] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:08:59.581] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:00.036] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:01.611] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:02.826] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:03.218] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:03.606] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:04.460] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon [19:09:06.031] Ekkyo's Dark Intent is refreshed by Zharkoon
