Bastion of Twilight Trash Drop Rates

Okay, so i checked wowhead a couple of hours ago, and came across Bastion of Twilight trash mobs somehow, and i noticed that the trashmobs in the start of the instance (Soul Blades, Dark Menders, Crossfires and Shadow Knights) all had 2-5 epics whom could drop off of them, most of which had 2-5% drop chanse per mob as well, so i stacked up all the epics and their percentage and did a slight mathematical calculation. The results shocked me abit, it was about 10% drop chanse PER MOB for an epic item to drop.

So i talked to some people and a friend of mine had recently been inside the instance and cleared trash for and resetted after the first 3 packs for an hour and a half or so. He had gotten 5 epic items during 1 SINGLE RUN. Atleast he said so, i've got no direct proof though.

So i made a grp myself, got inside, and after almost 6 clears of the first 3 packs of mobs, it had only dropped 1 epic item (Crossfire Carbine) So i figured 14 x 6 = 84, so for almost 1 and a half hour we had about 1 to 84 drop chanse. Hence i wonder, what are your experiences? Can we perhaps get a little debate going about the current drop ratings and how you guys have experienced the trash-farming in Bastion of Twilight (Or Blackwing Descent for that matter)?

PS: This is all information from 10mans, i don't know the current drop rate or anything from 25man.

Well i guess it's not enough data, but that's kind of why i am asking the members of MMO here what their experiences are, and hence the poll ofcourse.

We had 3 epics drop from the 1st room of mobs the 2 times we've been there not seen the other trash drop any

As far as i can see, you both received pretty much all your epics from the same room (1st room) as did i. I got the gun from the first room.

As insane as it might sound it's almost as if the epics drop from the first room only with the appropriate drop rated listed on Wowhead, and after the 1st room is cleared the drop chanse goes down to 1% or something silly.

This sounds utterly detemented though, but then again it's alot that points towards it.

First week of Cata, we had about... 3 of the same cloth wrist drop, the Agi trinket, a Soul Blade(Which I got, whee), and something else. This week, we got the Agi trinket again, and an Agi helmet I believe. Cleared all trash necessary to reach all the bosses both times.

I agree, though, the drops rates do seem kind of high.

I think it's because there's so much bloody trash in the first room that it just seems high compared to the other instances. I would say it's around 3-5% tops, but we have seen quite a few trash drops throughout the instance as well.

tbh you fail at maths thinking that the drop chances are cumulative..

if theres 40 mobs each one having a drop chance of 2-3% then the drop chance will be 2-3% the amount you do soemthing with a independant variable does not increase or decreae the likely hood of an outcome.. i.e if you roll 6 6's in a row the next roll has an equal chance to be a 6 as any other number.

ProBubble, i think you missunderstood how i did the math on this one. EACH of the four types of mobs in the first sector of Bastion of Twilight, drops anywhere from 3 to 5 DIFFERENT epic items. EACH item, has a 2-5% drop chanse PER mob. Hence, you simply add all the drop chanses together and you will have the drop chanse of an epic in general, from each mob. Hence the math that i performed turned out to imply that EACH mob in the instance (the 4 types mentioned) have about 10% chanse of dropping 1 EPIC, not EACH epic. Hence you fail.

In two weeks of clearing we have had (once cleared 10 and once 25man):
5 epics pre-halfus
5 epics pre-double dragon
0 epics pre-council


also 0 epics from the small amount of trash in Blackrock

no drops at all in 25man up to cho'gall

Drop rate was nerfed in 10 man recently. i can see 10% as being an accurate number for 25 man
