that and any time I see the old tree form I just think of the times of wrath when I could spam rejuv 10 times

I like the cooldown mechanic. But I also liked looking like a tree all the time. Perhaps the old model when you're not using the cooldown, the new model when you are? (Like mobs growing larger when they enrage.)
I don't buy the showing-your-gear argument. If that matters, why are we preserving bear, cat, and moonkin?

Permanent moonkin form and permanent tree of life form have no reason to exist as game mechanics and both need to die a quick death.
