Thumbs up how do I dps multiple mobs? dots vs single target?

Hello. I have now reached enough talent points to try out destro too as I would like to raid in the future as destro, until now I leveled as Affliction and it still is my main spec.

    1. On multiple mobs do I put DoTs on everything or use all I got on single target then switch?

    2. Is there any AoE spell efficient enough that us locks should use?

    3. As destro I am using Immo > Conflag > CB > incinerate , what DoT should I put on simple mobs?

If the mobs will last a full duration of immolate, I put immolate on all the mobs. I then shadowflame them all. Then single target one down. You can use RoF but I don't like to use it unless there are far too many mobs to effectively put immolate on. I don't tend to bother with a Bane on trash that won't last a full duration of BoD or at least 2-3 ticks. Not sure about BoA, I would imagine its DPET is not worth bothering with, but I could be wrong.

Shadowflame, sfury always and RoF if theres 6-7+ mobs. Generally I would use immolate on as many mobs as possible. Corr is good too but has longish duration so u might want to use it only when theres high hp mobs.

Switch conflag with chaos bolt. We want to use our Backdraft charges on 3 incinerates in order to get the best out of the DPCT.
On trash I don't worry about banes, save for Bane of Havoc on anything with more than 1 target.

    Here's my.... "rotation"

Soul Fire (for Improved Soul Fire Buff **Keep this up!**) > Corruption > Immolate > Chaos Bolt (cast as soon as immo finished as there is about 0.5 seconds before Conflag lights up) > Conflag x3 for backdraft > Check Soul Fire & corruption, renewing if necessary, then recasting my immolate and continuing on with my "rotation". I left out Bane of Doom, but obviously on a fight that's going to last enough to make it worth it it's somewhere between corruption and immolate. Our filler spell is incinerate, use that anytime you don't have to renew ISF/Corr/Banes/Conflag.

In fact, if you remove Chaos Bolt from your bars entirely you will hardly notice any DPS loss. I just like to use it after immo until conflag lights up, which is only the case is A) it's the beginning of the fight or B) if immolate happens to fall off.

If you're in range, use Shadowflame on cooldown. I like to stand near melee just so I can use it every chance I can as it is a DPS increase. However, don't move out of your way to cast it, and obviously don't stand in melee when you shouldn't.

To get more help on our priority list, "rotation", and otherwise how to execute great DPS as Destruction, read the stickies and check out elitistjerks. There are many different resources at your disposal, every bit of knowledge will help you in your path to being a badass warlock.

EDIT: I just realized it's mostly on how to damage multiple targets precisely. Shadowflame and Shadowfury on C/D. If you're destro and there are 5+ targets, Rain of Fire after Immolate/Corruption on some mobs. I hardly try to keep immo and corruption up on every single one cause by the time you're finished casting them on the last target, the first ones are falling off. Bane of Havoc helps too.

Depends on how many. If there are 2-3 I'll immo/corr them all + bane of havoc. Any more than that I'll immo/corr a few and BoH on one.

Shadowfury and Shadowflame on cooldown, otherwise the only thing really worth the cast is Rain of Fire for Destruction. *(Seed of Corruption for Affliction and Meta+immo Aura+hellfire+pet bonestorm for DEmo)*

    I say:
    1. Send your Voidwalker in to get his ass kicked.
    2. Single target 1 to death.
    3. go to next target.
    4. kill em all.
    5. profit!

But you should probably listen to other people since I'm still kinda new to the warlock class =w=

For an affliction warlock, you should use Soulburn then Seed of Corruption if you have the talent. Use Shadowflame and DoT a few with Immolate and then use Rain of Fire. Refresh Shadowflame on cooldown and refresh Immolate after one channel of Rain of Fire.

"Conflag x3 for backdraft" silly question but I'm not waiting for Conflag to come of CD 3 times and do nothing until then right? Backdraft procs when I hit the third Conflag at the 3rd rotation ?

no, he means conflag for backdraft x3, you get 3 backdrafts every time you conflagrate.
Who is Chris Metzen? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Zarhym tell it, anybody could have worked for Metzen. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that... poof! He's gone.

Any suggestions for Cho'gall? We always seem to have trouble on the phase 1 adds and as one of the two casters in my raid, I feel like I'm not doing enough with sfury -> shadowflame as many as possible, terrified that they'll hit me -> rof as many as possible -> immo down stragglers. Also: what should I be doing on the tentacles phase 2? Single target them?

Tank chogall in the skull. Everyone stands in melee range. Press hellfire. Profit hardcore.

On 25 Cho'gall i managed to top blood damage just by immolating all of them with the occasional conflag or shadowburn. Didn't have a demo lock in the raid that time but if you're scared they'll hit you hellfire with it's reduced radius probably isn't great now.

Tentacles you should be shadowfury'ing as much as possible and single targetting yeah, maybe immolate them all if you can get 3+ ticks off.

Don' forget Inferno for those tentacles, he stuns on landing and does good ae to them. Helps a lot.

I usually use my inferno on last wave of bloods since there's shit tonnes (impact damage is more utilised that way) but yeah, if your raid slacks on tentacles can also use there.

The DPCT for corruption is simply too good to leave it out of your rotation.

    read the stickies

Stack Cho'gall up on the stairs in the last phase. Most of them will stack on the boss and they went down insanely quick this week because of it.
