FD and your pet should too

Is it me or should your pet FD as well as you
When i FD especially in BGS my pet always gives the game away cause he will carry on fighting sometimes thats a good thing but other times when i want someone to stop attacking me they know ive fd cause my pet is still alive so its kinda useless in pvp

also i find when i fd to lose agro i have to wait till the pet is killed cause he will carry on fighting

    what are your thoughts

you think that when your pet and you die at the exact same time that that doesnt give away that your FD'd?
FD is only usefull in pvp to remove a person from targeting you. nobody will actually think that you are dead.

you would be surprised the amount of hunters who try to fool me with fd only it doesnt work cause i can see his pet so i carry on attacking him

While the suggestion is good and I would encourage you to think it trough and then post in on the official suggestion forums, the point from Dura above still stands. The fact that a nice little sword will be used as mouse-over icon above your "corpse" does not help, either

The only time to FD in PVP is if another pet is on you and you don't have another way to get them off of you.

The reason this would be a horrible change is because when you're soloing content, if the pet feigns death with you combat will reset entirely (it's already an issue in TooT in the gauntlet that FD resets the encounter even with the pet alive). Why yes, that could be useful if you overpulled, but what if you're using FD to shed aggro but don't want to bail on combat?

I just think you should get a mechanic that made your pet unable to FD when in combat versus a target that YOU were the only1 in combat with, but as soon as there are more than one target person in combat with the same mob it should play out like pet would FD with us (making us not have to remove pet b4 fding in pve)

I think you should be able to dismiss your pet WHILE FDed... then you can FD and 2sec later your pet disappears. Not perfect, but it doesn't screw with other aspects of the game that way.

A nice effect would be a "run away!" option. Kind of like "move to", but basically the pet runs in the direction opposite from you until it despawns due to range. It can still be killed, concussed, rooted, etc., so it's not guaranteed to save the pet (especially if it runs into a wall after 5 yards) but at least give it a fighting, er, running chance. Unfortunately I can see it becoming completely abused for kiting purposes in groups/raids.

No. This would remove you from combat. = bad when you're soloing and you pull agro.

Oops pulled agro, FD. Boss resets.

I'd rather a FD skill separate for the pet, rather then have it at the same time as my hunter. I don't PvP, but I do solo old instances, and it would suck for me to pull off of my pet, FD, and have the encounter reset on me. It would be useful for the pet to have its own FD, to reset encounters if I need them to reset (as in over-pulling), but I don't see it happening.

At first i thought you meant Final Fantasy style "run away". It would be funny if you could press ctrl r and your character turns around and legs it XD

Passive is horrible! He comes back to you! He just sits on top of you scratching his fur/shell/antennae while dying! I want him to RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY AND NEVER RETURN! ... *blinks* is there a Lion Cub I can tame, I just thought of something fun to do in Desolace.

He runs back to you, but then you also leg it. Also, lol at the lion cub thingy. XD

This is a terrible example of good FD usage. Getting pets off of you? Are you serious?

FD's greatest usage in pvp is as a pseudo-interrupt to break casts.

    Scare Beast!

But really between Silencing Shot, Scatter Shot, Feign Death and readiness, I've been able to 100-0 mages, not a scratch since the original MM buff in wrath. They can't get one cast off.

I thought they changed FD and vanish so that the spells that are currently being cast still cast but they need to re-target you if they want to continue to cast after that.

Yeah, one of these days I'll actually bind Scare Beast to a key. Have I mentioned that not only am I pretty sad at PVP, I decided yesterday I would never PVP again (or at least, not until I have the time to PVP in addition to everything else I do in the game) and so of course I got the Vicious Gladiator's Chain Leggings in BH last night? If I found out tomorrow that Blizzard had developed a mind-reading device that was implanted in the authenticator my reaction would be, yep, sounds right to me.

I don't Arena (although I did know Scare Beast works on them) because of my general suckiness in PVP. Basically, I did enough PVP in Wrath to be prepared for School of Hard Knocks and I like to do the Wintergrasp/Tol Barad style battlegrounds. But we're not here to talk about how much I suck in PVP, we're here to talk about Feign Death.

I still don't like the pet feigning automatically as well. I think the best solution would be to give cunning and tenacity pets a talent called "Play Dead" you can spec into if you want to use.
