Soulstone : We will have our battle rez, be patient

Just in case you missed the blue post.

"Our plan is still to let Soulstones be used on dead targets, effectively giving warlocks a combat resurrection as well. Unlike the death knight one, which was a relatively straight forward change, the warlock one requires new code. We still plan on making this change for 4.1, but we will keep you updated."

    Im a happy warlock today

A warlock can be happy no?

next blue post we see about it:
We've decided not to give warlocks a combatrez in 4.1. Maybi we'll change our minds for 4.2

You understand that it will still be the same Soulstone, no? You will still be able to pre-cast it on somebody, the only difference is that you'll be able to cast it on a corpse.

Anyway, incoming QQ from other classes i guess... *sigh*

It is totally awesome in 10man not having a Druid and so having to randomly pick someone you think might die to have a chance to resurrect them. Bringing a class just because of one ability is great game design, it's why they never gave Bloodlust to anyone other than Shamans.
I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

It's not about that though, it's about having to predict who may die on the next attempt. Other than a tank who needs to use cool downs to keep himself alive no one else's death can really be predicted and is the obvious issue with this mechanic. Even if you have great raiders you still don't know who could die on the next attempt. A lag spike, a miss click, or even random raid mechanics can cause deaths that can't really be blamed on people that also can't be predicted either.

It's an essential raid buff. This means you don't need to take a bad Druid just to ensure you have the B-Res covered.

No, no, soulstone is completly different, it can act as a Reincarnation when you solo and it will act as a Combat Resurection in your raids/5 mans/bg's.

Awesome no? A reincarnation/battle rez hybrid!! What? you want a shiny purple orb too for your class?

It will never happen!!! mouhahahaha (machiavelic warlock laugh)

This is a totally necessary change since soulstones use up in-combat ressurection cooldowns now. There is no logical reason that Soulstones should be disadvantaged compared to all other such effects by requiring the target to be selected ahead of time.

Why every class has to have abilities that work THE SAME WAY just different name of spell. I am really getting sick of lack of uniqueness in this game. Screw balalnce, this is RPG game not Tic-tac-toe...

Totally agree with you, and that's probably the reason I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription. I liked the diversity in the classes when I started... But now there are 2 or more classes that have the same exact spells that you have. Blizzard really fucked up on this one. They should try to balance the classes in one scene (PvE) and then make the spells do something entirely different when used against players.

Having rogues that are useless outside stealth should be fine, Blizzard.
Having mages that are utterly useless when in range of a melee attacker should be fine, Blizzard.
Having wonky abilities that don't have any real practical use should be fine, Blizzard.

Stop FIXING things. Tweak them instead.

As a warlock player since 2006 I'm not happy with this change. I like how SS works and I loved it when I was leveling and I always had it on me and sometimes when I got ganked I could get revenge with my ss. Also I always use it in BGs and surprise my enemies, becaue they do not expect it. Also ss was always about you taking a guess "who is likely to make a use of it".

If you really want to battle ress someone and play a caster you can roll a balance druid. It makes me sad that blizzard is slowly taking away everything unique from classes and giving them to someone else. At the same time as they do it they make each class feels less special.

I know they have a policy "bring the player not the class" but seriously this is a computer game it is suppose to be about the classes as much is about the players. If your guild needs some buff/ability then try to recruit a class with it or find someone who is willing to reroll to fill up that spot.

They say "bring the player not the class" but what they really mean is "we are having a hard time balancing raids so we just try to give several classes unique powerful abilities to make our work easier".

and for all those who are going say "well if you don't like stop playing" Well I like this game and I will keep on playing it but that doesn't mean that I can't say my opinion about stuff they change or remove.

Hehe i know what you mean, but as a undead warlock, i prefer to eat their hearts

I was one of the first to be a little bit pissed off when they announced the change to Raise Ally. I was like: "Hey! You said you were working on a new shiny soulstone at the beginning of Cataclysm, QQ" Now i understand this is a little bit more complex than i thought.

Hey dude, it will still be the same ol' soulstone, no worries. The only difference is that you will be able to cast it on a corpse.

well no it is not the same ss

If we cast our soulstone on a corpose it's just a battle ress with a different name and animation. Sure the only difference, if I understand correctly, we must make our soulstone before but they are still taking away it uniqueness.

You will still be able to pre-cast it on your friend or yourself if you want. The soulstone is a consumable, if you have one in your bag, you will be able to use it on a corpse thats it. Its just a better version of the actual Soulstone and its justified since it share the cooldown with battle resurection.

Out of interest, is there some sort of secret requirement on the forums I am not aware of where you need to make at least one whine post with the current trendy buzzwords in order to be allowed to post? Because it seems "Homogenization" and "Recycled" are currently in vogue, while before it was things like "Skillmourne", "Wrathbaby" and "Gearscore".

Like i said, Soulstone will still be the same as always. You create one, you have the choice to use it on yourself or on one of your friend. If you don't use it and you still have one in your bags, you will be able to cast it on a dead player.

15 min cooldown / Restore 30% life and 30% mana
