    Spirit Link Totem Spell Effect

I am on PTR right now and I checked out the Spirit Link Totem and, well, it actually looks pretty cool.

    Here it is starting up:

Here it is at its fullest:

The radius actually looks pretty forgiving. 10 yards doesn't seem at all that small once you're in there.

    Thoughts?

I have not tried it out yet in a group situation, but will be doing it soon.

EDIT: Just a question, how do you make the screens smaller?

EDIT: Just a note, the green stuff swirls around.

Looks really cool but I have a question. So a resto shaman will have to run in place the totem then run back and continue healing? Don't flame on me Im still leveling my shaman

nearly every situation where you would use this you would already be grouped up with the raid, so having to move to place it is a moot point

This totem plus Shake and baking (guild's term for stacking healing rains ontop of each other), along with chain healing will make any single target damage mechanic completely negligible.

Just wish there was something this innovative for Elemental.

Its pretty sweet. Sadly the ptr is a terrible place to test things like this if you group with random players. Most of them want to spread out all over the place so they can see their toon pewpew. Hopefully enough skilled groups are on the ptr to do some real testing of this. I wish there was no premades on the ptr, everyone is too worried about having the leet gears for free insted of actually trying to test anything out.

I'm more concerned about it only getting 5 health so anyone can stomp or sneeze and its gone. Any other healers cd has to be atleast dispelled. =\
So ontop of a 10yard range it is easily negated.

How can you stand to play at that framerate?

Anyway, didn't they just redo all those AoE healing graphics to make them less visually abrasive? Like Holy Word: Sanctuary and Efflorescence? And then they do this?

I want my Death Knight's 4.0.1 Blood Boil animation back. >:|

don't think they intended this as a viable PvP ability when they thought it up.

I believe it is more intended for PvE purposes than for PvP purposes.

Ancestral Swiftness will take care of any issues with needing to place the totem somewhere.

That effect looks very cool. I'm glad they made the effect boundary very clear.

Haha I don't play on this computer often. I'm at home and my gaming computer is back in my dorm in college.
And it went down to 14 for some reason. It usually at 30.

And I like the Spirit Link Totem animation. Its very...it feels very spirit-y.

I thought just about every PVP Shaman drops Stone claw totem when under pressure. Stone Claw is going to give it a lot more HP.

And the healing CD I believe was created for the more PvE-oriented Resto Shaman, seeing as that it would be more helpful in a PvE setting.

I agree with this as well. Though I do think it could have some interesting applications in PvP. Especially in BGs and larger arena teams.

No it's not lol. Stoneclaw puts a 4k shield on your totems. My hunter's auto shot hits for more than that. The only purpose stoneclaw serves anymore is the glyph.

@PVP people: It ticks instantly when dropped (think tremor or old school cleansing totem). So even if it gets destroyed right after that, you still got a pretty big heal off on someone who was low. You could almost think of it as a second nature's swiftness + GHW in that regard.

It is nice to see some more unique spells. Yes, this is a situational ability, but it is an awesome situational tool.

The animation is decent and will probably go well with healing rain, it's just too bad this spirit link totem is overall pretty meh. Blizz saw that shaman lacked a CD compared to pallies and priests for raid/tank survivability and in stead of giving something we could use with as much success as AM or Guardian or PS etc we get this. Its not horrible, but 10% reduc is laughable in comparison and the effect, while unique, can backfire as much as help depending on when/where you use it. There are a few great times for it, but I'm really hoping for an overhaul to make this a viable CD for saving the raid rather than just making it a little easier to heal already very healable portions of fights.

It gives it a small bubble, but mine is used on cd to give myself a shield 4x stronger to negate 16k damage. And I know its not intended for pvp, would just be nice to have one, I'd even take a barkskin clone at this point. Kind of hard to do anything while being focused by a warrior and any other dps. Warriors or a dps alone I can handle and kite. Guess ol earthbind and I will keep on pillar humping.
