Eye of Kilrogg - Putting it to use.

I have almost never used the Eye of Kilrogg except to make people wonder what it is...

There have been many suggestions about how to make this spell into something that is actually worth a spot in my action bars. So I give you an idea on how to make it better.+

Give it a slightly better stealth detection than normal characters! This way, a warlock in Warsong Gulch would be a great flag carrier defender against ferals, rogues, mages?, etc.
Let me know what you think.

I don't know about detection. How about after the duration it blows up and deals damage and/or knocks back

Find mobs in caves so you can plan your path... other than that.. just to mess around with.

^ Finding mobs so you don't have to explore.
Finding people who are hiding, without having to leave your current spot
Scaring the shit out of noobs in their first cave.

It doesn't need a "buff". It's a spell like Far Sight or Mind Vision. It's a spell that helps you watch what's in your surroundings. For example in an AV battle you are hiding inside a tower while the alliance team are about to start killing Drek'Thar. You can help your team mates with saying how much HP he have left and if their wiping or not. There's a lot of use to it, I use it sometimes on my lock atleast.

"A lot", in a very limited sense. The most I've ever done with it is see how far away I can get from my character before the duration runs out out of boredom.

No one is having problems, it just makes life easier.. what's the point in running your char through a cave killing your way through everything when you can go directly to it?

if you have played this game for more than a few months and leveled some chars to a respectable level, you learn in many caves where a named might be, even if you haven't been in that zone before. most caves are built according to certain specs, with 2-3 main places for named mobs.

    This.

Also, if the cave is new, the new quest helping thing by blizzard shows you the skull on your minimap and the point on your map. Getting out an Eye of Kilrogg and spending some time going around in there takes longer. ^^

Yup, I know, but then again it's still useful to search with it for people who don't know the layout of caves.

Really? I actually completely forgot about it. I haven't used it since leveling (TBC, 2006), you know, when leveling was more difficult.

Making it capable of using an ability like Sap would be cool, but man, rogues would be pissed. That would also lead to the homogenization complaints. I'm just throwing out ideas here.

I also kind of like the "blowing up" idea--like a guided shadow grenade that could be either a straight up bomb, or function like Seed of Corruption (with or without Afflic's Soulburn effect).

It would be interesting to have it work sort of like the Hunter's Control Pet ability. It could use the above Sap or grenade/bomb abilities, possibly be able to mine/herb, or cast a Demonic Circle for you. That would be pretty sweet, actually. /joy

    Thoughts?
    Opulence. I has it.

I definitely like that demonic circle thing. But then I'd rather have it like a flame orb that you can position and choose to receive its sight. That way I can guide it to some place in an arena while still being able to react and move around on my character.

I used Eye of Kilrogg in BoT to find out what the Drake setup was for the week. Now that they found out the spawn cycle I just have to find a post.

So I'm traveling along and i see a quest icon on my map floating over the mountains. Since i don't have a flying mount yet i know its not above the mountains, leaving only underneath. This leaves me with two options
    A. I stand at the front of the cave and channel eye of kilrogg, and proceed to explore my way through the uncharted cave, mapping the quickest and safest route to the quest item/giver. I then proceed along the route killing a few mobs as i go and get the quest item.
    B. I run inside, take a look at my minimap to see the structure of the cave/tunnels and which direction to go for the quest. I then run in that direction killing mobs as i go.
For the most part, wow caves/tunnels are very intuitive and you can get a good sense of whats going on from the entrance. Which option do you think is faster? Sure, maybe you'll run into the one cave that you find somewhat confusing and you'll spend some time killing mobs going in the wrong direction. It boils down to whats a better use of your time, exploring a cave with eye of kilrogg or actually entering the cave and earning experience as you go. So if you are one of those people that gets hopelessly lost in simple caves with repetitive designs roll a lock and get channeling.

    It is USEFUL!

.. for finding Netherdrakes' eggs in that ugly cave!
.. well, not so much in last 2.5 years

seriously it is nice utility tool in situations you don't want to walk somewhere personally - that's fine as it is

but in my wild dreams of ultimate warlock ownage it has button for switching positions with master
