I would not want to see a Diablo MMORPG. Of course, it has a lot of potential when we first look at it, but it has been an action RPG since its beginning and changing that would be very upsetting, letting alone the fact that most MMORPGs like that medieval theme.
Another problem with MMOs is that they often screw up the lore behind them or invest in stalemates to keep it going. Diablo has always been epic and heroic, especially for those going for a clear in hell difficulty. Turning that into a MMO would just take those things away.
Groups would spend HOURS killing trash before reaching a boss, and there is only DPS specs. Some are more tank-ish, some may have some sort of healing spell, but overall they are all damage dealers.
