Personally, I agree. In the Canucks' entire history, we've only had two goalies that have done as much for the team as Roberto, that being Richard Brodeur and Kirk McLean, who both made it to the finals without winning it. There is a reason the time between McLean and Luongo is referred to as the "Goalie Graveyard." While I am critical of some of the goals Luongo lets in (specifically goals that result due to either him giving the puck away behind the net or his inability to get up quickly once he is down on the ice), I can honestly say that I have never literally booed him.

    Viva la Luongo!
Yeah it's tough to judge a persons performance on so few games. He's getting a raw deal. Then again they've already crucified Jonas Gustavsson in the press today so it's not much different here in TO.

The downside of playing hockey in Canada. Every mistake is front page news.

Only because he played like ass and it was his first game. I think he should have played against Winnipeg and Reimer should have started against Boston.

Luongo is one of the best if not best goaltenders this franchise has ever seen and it's pretty hilarious how everything has played out since he came to Vancouver. He is the head controversy of any losing cause, bad stretch of games, rarely appreciated when he plays amazing, among other things. While I'd rather have a shorter contract (I'm not a fan of these long term deals much) there isnt much I have to say about him. My main criticism of him would probably how much his mentality plays a role in his performance, more so than other athletes in the game right now.

Schneider is also an amazing goaltender and I hope he stays with us but I think he'll be a part of a big trade this year. Any team that ends up getting him will have a pretty talented player on their hands.

Me too, but we dealt with a comeback game the previous day, our backup goalie in the net, and the Stanley Cup Champions bringing their A game. I also think Boston's crowd got to Kessel.

I don't think Luongo deserved to get booed this early nor have I ever booed him, but I also wouldn't question or stop the fans that are booing him right now. His inability to make clutch saves or outduel other top goaltender in this league is frustrating to watch, even if the final outcome of the game isn't necessarily his fault. I get why people would be unhappy with him though when you have a guy on his huge contract and a backup that looks more than ready to start (not to mention more likeable).

That being said, he does need to be booed from time to time to keep his enormous ego in check.

Glad I sat out Howard today.
Really glad Grabovski scored it, beautiful goal.
Also happy that Gustavsson got that winner, hopefully that'll take some pressure off of him.
