wait why do they make them dress up like cowboys??

I'll be the most deafening noise you've heard.

That will stick around for years.
Colorado is basically 50% redneck/cowboy and 50% hippy. I guess they decided that the cowboy part would be more appropriate for an airport, but I don't really understand it either.
Yeah that's for sure. Those games were always fun because my parents both lived in Detroit for awhile and my dad has been a huge Wings fan since the 1960s, but we lived in Colorado so things always got heated. You can imagine how that rivalry was last series. Lots of bragging and calls from both sides.

That was the 2002 Conference Finals I think. I'll never forget the brawl resulting from the 96 playoffs though. It even has its own Wiki page. I hope that the Avs field a good team again someday so a rivalry like that can reawaken. That won't happen until they fire their GM though.
Canucks take a 2-0 series lead over the San Jose Sharks with a 7-3 victory tonight, while Ben Eager scores a pair.
If anyone missed it:

Now we know why he was so eager to get to the penalty box that entire 3rd period. XD
In any case, thanks for the game!

*Watches Canucks blast San Jose 7-3*
WOOOOOOOOOO This should be a smooth series! *knocks on wood*
Hahaha, no. The Joe is not near what I would refer to as the suburbs. I'd make a quick paint image to display this, and I still might, but use your imagination for now. The Joe, Comerica Park, and Ford Field are basically in the same four by four block area along with Cobo Hall, some office buildings, the Fox, the Ren Center, etc. One block from that is pure, completely desolated ghetto. About a decade ago, the nice area of town expanded all the way to Tiger's Stadium, but since that place was shut down, the ghetto has completely consumed everything nearly up to the doorstep of the new stadiums. The only other safe zone is the area around the casinos and the freeways. Everything else looks like post-WW2 Europe with 3/4ths of the buildings abandoned. They should really just demolish everything outside of the nice downtown area and plant corn there or something.
Parking for the Joe is great though. There are a couple of nice parking garages. The one from Cobo is attached to the Joe by a series of tubes which is sweet. Then there is another garage and an actual nice dirt lot right across from the arena and a fancy parking lot for season ticket holders and fancy ticket package people who are eating at the fancy restaurant inside before the game. It isn't like parking for Tigers games which basically has you parking in dirt lots being ran by some shady character who may or may not own the lot or its parking rights. Some of them even have actual dirt or gravel instead of broken glass!
Edit: Okay my original description isn't really fair. If you look at a map of Detroit, look for US10, I75 and I375. They form a nifty little square along with the river around the stadiums and the business district. Everything outside of that square is pretty much awful.

See? Remember back when I told everyone it should be Van-Det?
That being said, I'm hoping the gauntlet has been thrown to San Jose fans, and they can respond appropriately.
I would think California has the talent to compete with our 'pom pom' girls.
According to espn Bergeron will play tonight unless there are any pre game set backs (Kael jokes in 3,2,1).

That is some quality news for Boston. I really don't expect the Bolts to have another game like that though. That may have been the most defensively lax I have seen them since the game where they played the Wings a couple months back. Since then their defense has been a machine. Last game they were just awful. Boucher looked about ready to stab someone in the face. Their backs aren't against the wall to this extent yet, but I wonder when he is going to bust out the inevitable "you want to know how I got these scars" inspirational story.
