They already do that. Dracthyr will be available for $15/month beginning on The War Within's launch. This is because everything is rolled into their "Battle Chest" approach when the next expansion is launched.

If your idea is literally what they do now, minus the subscription, then that's still a freemium model. Pay a bit of a fee to get premium access to new features and content, but the rest of the game is free.

I'm ignoring that tangent; it's not what I said at all; it was about full access to end-game by a limited number of game-characters.

The only free to play now is a completely crippled level 20 experience.

The only thing it can remotely do "end-game" is 20 level PvP.
