I think Ice Cream and Unicorns should be free too, but, alas, they're not. Hell, according to this logic, why don't they give it all away for free, so we can have fun for free until they go out of business. Then we can go pick over another carcass.

We're saying that we think they can put out the feature, and if we think it's worth it, we will pay for it. If not, we won't.

For clarity, you spend $15 a month for access to the service they provide. Whatever service they provide. If it's not worth it, don't pay. They never promised to put a certain percentage of revenue towards development. They never promised 'x' content per 'y' time. They never promised to include features YOU think should be free.

If you feel like THIS service should be included in your monthly sub, that's fine. It's your opinion, and unfortunately, at this time, Blizzard doesn't share that opinion.

And as to calling Blizz greedy, what would you call them if part of your retirement portfolio is ActiBlizz stock? should they tank their growth and your dividend so you can group w/ cross-server friends for free?

LOL. They don't invest more money into the game, silly. It's called profit, and it goes to larger salaries and their shareholders. Or, best case, it goes into OTHER games. This game MAKES money. Silly, silly, silly goozen.

As with any company profit is devided by set persentages, so yes it will be invested.

WoW is already in a completely boring and stagnant state, this was just what I needed to cancel and wait on Diablo 3. This just went a little too far for me to keep putting money into WoW, and I can only see more and more 'premium' being implemented in the future as they hemorrhage subscriptions.


Keep ripping that wound open Blizzard, the gas companies may be able to price gouge but you have to remember, WoW isn't a life necessity.

Third, I know they evolve. What you don't get is that some features they provide for free (Firelands, ZA/ZG, etc) and some, you have to pay extra for. You can have an opinion as to which one is which, but that doesn't make it fact.

If blizz go down that road they will fail, but they still havent.

Not exactly a doomsaying. It's the only logical conclusion that Blizzard will inevitably expand this service to include raiding and PVP with RealID friends of the same faction. Flexible raid lockout, same quality gear in 10 and 25 man content, and guild perks/levelling implemented to counterbalance the rise of cherrypicked pugs; the writing is pretty much on the wall.

It's true, I'm watching. But my hope is that by locking the other thread it exhibits that I (and others here) are keeping a close eye on these not only for constructive feedback and discussion, but also watching out for ongoing flaming, trolling, and Code of Conduct violations.

We wouldn't have posted what little we have to share with you if we didn't think it was important to share it within its context and then get that constructive feedback. We're not trying to do anything clandestine here nor are we trying to cause anyone stress or durress. I'm going to go out on a limb and make a couple of promises (which I try not to do.) I promise you that we will take all due consideration into what is being said no matter what the end result is. I also promise that we will do our utmost to share with you as much information with you all including the cost, any limitations, accessiblity, how it works and more, once we have that information to share. We're not taking any of this lightly.

There have been a lot of very strange speculation discussions ocurring that have made us scratch our collective heads. Please try to give us the benefit of the doubt that we want this service to be beneficial and as accessible as possible. Again, we are not making easy decisions here. If they were easy, we would have had every answer you wanted already.

I'd like to encourage everyone to please try to cut back on the conspiracy theories in these threads. They're not productive or constructive to these discussions and lead to some nasty flame wars or inferences.

I mean, I could sit here and recap what I did last night about how this isn't a big deal, changes nothing, this isn't a precursor to some crazy event that will end the World of Warcraft. It's just a simple case of "I WANT THIS MOMMY GIMME GIMME WAAHH WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME." - It's hard to see that it's that way from the standpoint of the one throwing the temper tantrum.

How many other things in your day to day life haven't increased in price? I can't think of many at all. Blizzard aren't immune to the recession, inflation or competition - they've yet to directly pass on these costs. If they can keep things the way they are by adding, let me stress, optional things that don't really impact on gameplay at all, more power to them. And I can imagine this thread would have even more posts than 70 odd pages if my suggestion about increased sub costs was to go ahead (and a significantly larger proportion of posters would actually be justified in giving their opinion on the subject).

I never said you wouldn't, I wasn't using you as an example at all, just pointing out that people are here just to moan and complain about something that truthfully doesn't matter to them in the slightest.

Where I work, if the company was to hit it's target sales for the day, we don't get to go home, we push for more. That's what business is about - and that's every business. It's not evil, it's not mean, it's not greedy, it's how things work - we don't live in a utopia just yet.

Theres a limit to how far you can push. This WILL enhance your gameplay value/experience and a lot of ppl are touchy about this. Blizzard should be carefull when they start charging extra for something that is only a minimal upgrade to an alrdy existing service. It's not like they need to hire new ppl to code a fresh new app for a completely different platform. The alrdy have all the knowledge, ppl and experience with coding WoW, so there is 0 reason why this should be a payed service. Afterall, I didn't see a bill on my doormat for the revamped battle.net which was way more work than this will be.
