On system boot my 4870x2 which used the AMD stock cooler, would spin up to 100% for a 3-4 seconds. Sometimes I even said "We have a liftoff"

I used it for almost 2 years, then it died
Idle at 78C, load always at 94C.
I opened the casing to take a look inside, the 2 heatsinks where smaller than the standard 2500k HSF...
These days we have heatsinks covering the whole card for 1 GPU :P
-edit- Funny note. I looked up some benchmarks and apparently the 4870x2 is on par with the 6950. It just can't do DX11 features :P
