    Dreadsteed of Xoroth

I never did that quest when it was available and I wish I did.

Seems like it's one of those quests that really shows you are a true Warlock or something.

One can only hope that Blizzard maybe will re-implement these kinds of class quests.

And last did any of you guys do the quest when it was in the game? maybe at 60 even?

Did it at 80. It will never be implemented back.

Did it at 60. It was pretty epic and I wish it was still in the game, even if just optional. It added a lot of flavor to the class.

I did it at level 66 during BC, it cost me all my gold and then some. It was also a pain in the balls getting a group for Dire Maul and Scholomance etc....

  5. #5
Yep did it old school both that and the paladin one (although I did the paladin @ lvl 70). The quest chains were pretty nice and had an epic feeling.

The warlock one was I think a bit tougher and a royal pain in the butt, but it left you with that feeling of accomplishment. That's the main reason I still only use these mounts on my lock and pala even though I have many of the newer shiny ones. I just feel I put some serious effort in getting them and can't let them go

I did it at 65-ish. Like Jwiski it cleaned me out, but I had guildies (including a warlock who'd already done the quest) to run with me through Dire Maul.

Doomguard was also a fun quest chain (started with a guy in the Blasted Lands area crawling with Felguard lookalikes iirc).

did it at 60 because it was a warlock only thing and I wanted to earn it
(but I'm a freak, used a spreadsheet to track & do every quest available in the game)
I was accompanied by 2 other warlocks who had the mats for the Dire Maul part.
With 100+ mounts in my spellbook, I still use my dreadsteed pretty often (especially in the Molten Front)

also did the paladin version solo at L65-ish even though the mount could be bought at the trainer at L61. I was so scared to accidentally learn the spell.

also did the druid quest for epic flying when the skill could already be bought at the trainer

Did it at 60 and again at 80 when I rerolled. Doesn't compare to doing it at 60, but still it was pretty cool to do any level. Doubt they'll ever bring it back, or anything similar for that matter.

I did it back at 60. I would also clear the instance, summon the steed, and then sell the instance to other Warlocks. It would make me quite a bit of money back in Vanilla. The Warlock who came in after me had to do nothing but talk to the Dreadsteed. Easy gold for me, easy mount for them.

I remember doing that quest on my first ever character when i was a right *noob* at the game. Took me ages to get the gold, then the travel and i finally found a group that was doing it. Completing that quest felt so good, i haven't felt that sense of accomplishment for a while now.

Actually, early on in vanilla, that quest was only avalible from a book that dropped of the Demons in blasted lands. I had only heard rumours about it so I started farming those myself. Curse of Doom and timing it with banish so that the demon was held in statis 1-5 sec before the tick. Once I aquired the book I finnished the entire quest chain myself, solo'in more demons in BL, Winterspring and in Diremaul for the shards. It might have taken a few days but gosh I felt great once I was done.

    I did it at 60.

I remember back then it was the single most awesome thing I ever did in the game when I finally got the mount after the climactic battle at the end of the questline.

Tons of work and hundreds upon hundreds of gold were spent, blood sweat and tears and all that stuff.

It was without a doubt very epic.

it's just one of the most epic quests in game tbh. And as a warlock, well you wish you had done it (no really, you do).

I did as early as i could, and it was hard. Like, i had to bring a tank and healers hard. You fricking worked for that mount, and when you finished the ritual and could pick it up, you felt awesome.
You had to do quests, go get mats from all over the world, use up your bag space, jump through hoops.... It was awesome.

That's what the game was like when it was fun. Now you have to spam 5mans and buy on petshop to get mounts, where is the sense of achievement in that.

Here is a video that shows the fight, there are a couple on Youtube but most are crap quality. Although this guy's bartender setup makes my brain want to quit life.

i would loved to have done it too, i started playing just after TBC launch and played a druid, so luckily had the fun of doing all the druid quests, its definatly a shame they cut those out, as one of the things that would keep me playing this game more would be class specific stuff, only just rolled my lock and am gutted because its a fun class and i should have leveled one after my druid in TBC to do the quests!=/

  19. #19
I did it just at the start of TBC, by this time the mats where fairly cheap but the quests where still a challenge, I have the best memory of the last quest because I did it with a real life friend that no longers plays.

I wish these sort of quests where around still aswell, one of the things I was excited about whilst leveling up another character was the class quests.
