[Movies] Lord of the Rings or Star Wars?

The big question with two of the biggest film series' there are. Which is better: Lord of the Rings or Star Wars?
I personally prefer Lord the the Rings. I really felt more connected to the characters in LotR and some of the side stories/themes are just as gripping/in depth as the main story. One of my favourites is the Faramir/Boromir storyline.

    Opinion?

Lord of the rings, by far.
    I thought I did, but apparently I don't

If you die you die but if you don't die you still die.

Are you asking which is better?

I like both, but if I had to choose, Lord of the Rings any day.

LotR, but you do have to consider where you're asking this. In a high fantasy game, you ask which movie is better, a high fantasy movie or a sci-fi movie. Results are bound to be eschewed.

Star wars has a nostalgic feel to it; but it's plagued by...bad things. Lord of the rings are better and bigger films.

Star Wars isn't really sci-fi. Real sci-fi is Star Trek and the lesser known IPs, Star Wars is more "fantasy in space", considering the themes.

Star Wars, for quite a few reasons. Though fantasy stories are interesting, I prefer space sci-fi. And what's not to love about fight scenes that include blaster fire, light saber fights, and deflection of said blaster fire with light sabers. For the time, the special effects were amazing, and are still quite good for both the budget spent, and the time they were implemented in the movies. The story was well done, and made you anticipate the next movies.

Now keep in mind, I am sticking to Episodes 4, 5 and 6, as 1-3 were more of George Lucas wanting more money instead of telling the origins of Darth Vader (One of the best bad asses of all time with regards to movies). Had he taken more time with casting, and didn't add that annoying Jar-Jar, then 1-3 would have been so much better.

I am a big fan of the Tolken books, with that being said, I don't like the changes to the movies. Sure the cinematography was excellent, but Jackson's artistic freedom was a bit much. Add to it that the first movie was so boring I fell asleep during it...which did make it a more enjoyable movie...(That's not a good thing).

Lord of the Rings without any hesitation.

I like both, and it's a tough choice, but if I had to choose one favorite it would be LOTR, just because I'm more into the medieval fantasy genre.

Star wars if you grew up around the movies ofc (as in thought the Special effects were awesome for the time, not ofc they let the movie's down :P)
LOTR was ok just a bit long in my opinion but like i said if you grow up with star wars your most likely thing its better than LOTR. Anyone under 25 will most likely not agree.

Where's the neither option? Since they both suck...

That's funny. Not saying your opinion is bad, but mine's completely different. I absolutely loved the first movie the most out of all three, felt like it had the most "life" in it.

I wonder what kind of movies a person who doesn't like LoTR/SW likes.

    Lol at this thread.
    2 totally different movies.
    1 fantasy, 1 sci-fi
Made like 20 years between eachother.
One based on the book so ofc worse than original.

    Silly Thread.

    Good ones.

No really though, I've never liked SW at all, and LotR was just so drawn out and boring.

Is it just me who thinks most films are too short because of the lack of attention spans? 3 hours per film is a really good time in my opinion.

OT; LOTR>Star Wars any day. This is, in part, because I am taking the question to mean all LOTR films vs all Star wars films, and, well, we all know what that means...

I meant as in felt to long as in explained the movie at the start of the film no action just explaining really then at the end last 30 mins or so gets good, but the first half of the movie really does just drag.

I also agree that films that are under 2 hours are really always too short, films that are 2 hours are ok, and films that are 3 hours + are usually great.

I like 3 hour + films. A lot of story, I always hate it when a good movie is about to end too early.

If there was no explaining how would you know what the story is?
