PC breaks down during browser games..

    Hello,
My PC randomly breaks down while i'm playing browser games; my PC goes into 'sleep mode' or something, screen loses signal, sound goes off, holding power button won't turn off my PC.

I found out it only happens with browser games, almost any browser game at that.

    PC specs:
    Acer Aspire M3300
    AMD Phenom(tm) II x6 1035T Processor 2.60 Ghz
    4GB Ram
    ATI Radeon HD 5450
1 TB (7200 RPM Serial ATA)

    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?

My Java is up to date aswell. I found it happening with Firefox and Google Chrome, didn't try IE.

6.50GHz?! That's rather high. WTF kind of cooler are you using on that.

Is your Flash up to date? Have you tried running without hardware accelerated Flash (RMB on any Flash screen -> Settings... -> far left tab -> uncheck box)

    He has all the ghz!

    OT

What games are we talking about here, does it happen using flash games or java or both?

I'm completely uninstall both plugins and reinstall.

    Balls, it's a typo. 2.6 ghz.

But it's actually my whole pc blowing up, could it really be a browser plugin that causes it? o_0 I could imagine a browser crash, but everything breaking down, including holding the power button not turning off my PC?

I just updated Shockwave Flash, it happened a while back with different games i can't remember, but atm it's with Crystal Saga.

Hrm I guess i didn't read the sympton list as closely as I should.

Hold the power button doesn't shut off the comp? That should be so low level nothing can touch it. Sounds like a mobo issue.

A wut? I have hardly any computer knowledge lol...

Actually, the only thing that resolves it is pulling the plug.

Sorry, mobo = motherboard. The power button should be able to shut off the comp even if you went in and disconnected the harddrive while the comp was on, then yanked the ram, then yanked the processor. At least is most machines.
Edit: Okay I'm not sure about yanking the processor, but ram and HDD at least.
Edit Edit: Point being that there's something low level going on, my best guess being a fried motherboard, but someone else might be able to help you more.

Damn it. Reckon i can find out by opening the case or is it something you can't see from just looking at the motherboard?

Question: Does it occur when you're doing anything which could put any menial stress on any part of your computer? If you do, and it doesn't affect your computer, I can't see how it'd be your motherboard.

This is more likely to be the kind of error caused by a virus or some kind of malware. Try running a full system clean up, defrag your harddrives and run Malwarebytes.

But, there's no virus that would make the power button not work. That's so low level that no virus should be able to keep it from working.

It'd still switch it off without the processor :P As far as I'm aware the on/off switch is simply a mechanical switch that connects/ breaks the circuit.

Hmm, that's a very very good point. But similarly, I can't see how only browser games cause this issue and nothing else does >.<

I can play WoW on almost max, same with any other game. Yet browser games are the only thing that do this.
I only have MSN and the game on, utorrent seemed to drain shit loads of RAM so that's off unless i download something (which is only during the night). I haven't had this happen at all except when playing browser games.

In that case, I really don't think it's a hardware issue. What motherboard are you using again? I'll go see if I can find out wether the on/off button is purely mechanical or not.

    EDIT: Found the motherboard ;P

Additionally, 27-7-2011 was the last time i defragged. Less than a month ago, but i can't imagine a lack of defrags would blow up a whole pc like that.

I never get a death screen, my PC just drops all connections / signals, including the power button it seems. The power button light stays on, as does the fan.

Added HDD to OP aswell; 1 TB (7200 RPM Serial ATA), if needed lol.

No idea where i can find what motherboard i have, enlighten us Starbuy :P

Yeah, defragging is 99% gonna have no effect. I'm just scraping the bottle of the barrel :P Spamming the power button does notthing, correct? Have you tried simply holding it down for about 10-20 seconds to see if it'll hard power down? >.<

EDIT: Found your mobo with some quick googling :P and no, it's not a purely mechanical circuit breaker. I'm really lost here. I think your best bet is just to run every system diagnostic under the sun as well as malwarebytes >.<

Yeah, i can hold it for eternity, usually ~5 sec is needed to shut it off, now nothing helps.

It's just so weird, i have little knowledge of all the numbers and stats, but i know a crash is usually software related, if it's not it could be a virus or some fixable hardware issue, but i have no clue, and if you guys don't i'm at a complete loss -____________________________________________-

Reinstalled Java and updated Flash, let's see what happens now

This is the download link for Malwarebytes. If it's a virus, this'll fix the issue. Post once you've finished running this to let us know how it's gone :P

I feel like crying. I updated Java and Flash, and no crash so far since my last post. Other times it happened within 5 min...

    /cry

How the hell can something like that cause this to happen though? <.<
